I appreciate the PC Gamer community on here coming together and giving actual constructive advice :) and I found my problem! And Crysis now runs great! My processor does need an upgrade, however... this 8gb of Corsair Ram that I installed 6 months ago (get ready to make fun of me) My PC has only been using 3gbs of it til now. I assumed it was using the full 8gb because I am running a 64bit OS, however where I went wrong is, before I upgraded to Windows 7 64bit, my machine was running Vista 32 Bit (stock OS). Now when you upgrade from 32bit to 64bit, you should go into you're BIOs and enable Memory Remapping. For me it was naturally disabled as the stock OS was 32 bit and a 32bit OS can't use more then 3gbs anyway. Now why didn't I realize this before? Cause just those 3gbs was a great improvement over my stock ram that I just dumbfully assumed my PC was using all 8gbs. I feel dumb, but hopefully someday a Gamer will be searching the web for a fix with his/her 8gbs not being fully recognized, and comes across this topic lol. I think I am going to hold off on the over clock, I like to sell my old parts on ebay when I buy new parts so its best not to OC imo for that reason. (easier to sell an item that wasn't previously over clocked)

I am running 1680x1050 resolution. I did/do have SLI enabled. I guess I'll over clock the processor and see what happens. Thanks fellas

Hi, I previously had one BFG Tech 285 OC... unfortunately it died. So I went to bestbuy and saw they had PNY GTX 460 cards on sale for $200 and I figured I'd buy two and SLI them. And I do so, they both fit nicely into my mother board, I unwrapped the SLI bridge that I've been saving for about two years now lol, plugged it in. First off, Wow, all my games are maxed and run like butter, however.... one.... one does not. And that one I am talking about is Crysis and Crysis Warhead.... seriously? This game was released in 2007 and I still can't max it, I have 8gbs of Corsair xms2 ddr2 ram, I have a Q6600 2.4ghz (factory speed), and dual 460s. It always ran decent with the 285, but I figured the graphic cards would've overhauled my previous experience. Did I do something wrong, or do you think my processor is a bit too dated and I need to consider upgrading the motherboard and processor in the next 5 months? I can max the game, but I am very picky about FPS, I choose smoothness over niceness every time, it can play at 30fps and drop down at 15fps on max settings, though I assumed I'd be able to hold a consistent 40fps.

This is the PC my little brother has and I have been trying to fix for about a week.

http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668232.php

I am led to believe the Power Supply on it is shot, it was a 400watt unit.

Symptoms: Random shut offs, no warning sign, just instant shut down. Happened during Gaming, Web Surfing, and Idling.

Event Viewer showed nothing wrong, I thought maybe a virus? So I used AVG Free to clear out any viruses, there weren't any. I tried Reinstalling a fresh install of Windows 7 64 Bit. That didn't work, infact it shut off during the installation. I first tried installing it from the desktop and clicking the icon, and then I tried a Boot From Disc. And after it shut itself off on the Boot From Disc, makes me believe 100% that its a hardware, not software issue. So I took the power supply out of the computer and later today he wants to go to Best Buy for a new one. I don't want to break the bank, but I don't want to buy junk either. Will this be sufficient?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Thermaltake+-+430W+TR2+ATX+Power+Supply/9827301.p?id=1218179698427&skuId=9827301&st=power%20supply&cp=1&lp=3

or will I need to go a step farther and get this...

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Thermaltake+-+600W+TR2+ATX+Power+Supply/9827268.p?id=1218179699692&skuId=9827268&st=power%20supply&cp=1&lp=1

The computer does not use SLI, currently has a Nvidia 120GT 1gb (we will be upgrading that soon as well)

Did I pick out units that are compatible with this machine? I am sure I did, but not 100% which is why I am here. Also from what I said about the symptoms and what I have done to fix it, is it smart to believe the PSU is the cause? Thanks for your help.

For some odd reason, all of sudden my computer has been getting Graphical Issues with some games, some other games tend to stutter, and some games just down right crash. Left 4 Dead 2 runs great, but every 10 minutes or so it freezes, and I have to press ctrl alt delete, though the game doesn't come up as not responding, and if I exit task manager and get back to it, it'll play good for another 10 minutes. Call of Duty 1 and United Offense crashes completely half hour into it, and when I aim down the sights its very very choppy. CoD WaW and Modern Warfare 1 play really nice, though once inawhile I'll hit a graphic glitch that either freezes the game, or allows the game to still play but everything looks odd (all the soldiers turn bright white, everything els stays normal) and Bad Company 2 is just littered with graphic issues, bullets look like big pixelated squares. I checked up on drivers and I am running the latest in everything, and I have been running the same specs before these issues and now, its just all of sudden its been acting wierd. Did a virus scan, found nothing. Heres my specs.

PSU: 750Watt

Video Card: Nvidia BFG Geforce 285GT - 1gb

RAM: 8gb DDR2 Corsair

Processor: Intel Q6600 2.4ghz (stock speed)

OS: Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate

I am awaking this thread one more time, for one reason only. To give Steam Support a big SHOUT OUT to excellent service. My friend didn't know what to do, he created a new name and talked to me, I told him to go to steam support and fill out the application about stolen accounts. One problem for him, he didn't have his Serial key, he apparently lost it >_> (damn 16 year old kids losin stuff) but he did have a retail box, so I suggested, take a picture of your Report Card from school and the Left 4 Dead box and tell them you just lost the key. Reason for taking picture of his report card is because thats a document that states his name, and his name is on said Steam Account (thats something the theives can't change, they can change display name, and delete your friends but not the name of the person the account is registered too) and sure enough Steam Support accepted that as proof and gave him his account back.

If you wanna use a controller, I say go for it. Whats the worst that could happen? You lose? Big deal, its a game. I honestly know where your coming from, sometimes a controller is a bit more convient. I like to lean back and use a controller on L4D when I'm playing normal co-op (versus, I use a mouse though). Anyway in my honest opinion, controller versus mouse, you can be an EXPERT at controller, but if you play against a Mediocre Mouse user, he will still probably beat ya. If I'm wrong, I want you to fraps an online match, I think itd be pretty awesome to watch. With all that being said, why don't you use the mouse your using right now to operate your computer? You really don't need anything fancy, and if the off chance your using a laptop, the trackpad will be a better choice then a controller.
