"Atomic Heart" came to mind after hearing of the start of the conflict, as I thought they were also based in Ukraine, but they appear to be in Russia. This leaves me conflicted (pun), as I was looking forward to "Atomic Heart", and now I am left to wonder about its future.
"First world problems", I guess...people are dying.
I'm sure I'm not the only one, but...this entire episode (Microsoft+Zenimax) is like watching a powerful storm approaching from a long distance away; you know it's going to hit, and you know it's going to cause damage, and people may even die. But all you can do is watch and wait...and maybe duck the inevitable 60 MPH 2x4's.
Having no idea how long any of the Witcher campaigns were, I can only say from what experience I do have that I have never liked hearing a campaign is shorter. I guess I'll see.
I'm disappointed. I have zero interest in VR, so this game holds zero relevance for me. But I did enjoy the Half-Life series, and this game seems to have reviewed well, which likely means more of the same in the future.
So for me it seems, at least as it stands at the moment, Half-Life 2: Episode 2 was truly the end. I'd find it hard to believe they would take a "step back" on future iterations of Half-Life without considering VR.
I just recently remembered I never finished Command & Conquer: Red Alert that I got when I bought The First Decade years ago. I still had it on my computer but it wouldn't run properly. I'm going to have to fix it.
