You know what? I'm taking the plunge. I don't care, I'm buying a PS Vita. Screw it.

I don't care how terrible Sony is at supporting their own console. I don't care about how they seem to actively not want to succeed, I'm getting it simply because I like it.

Though, I'm not certain if I'll be playing it much simply because it has few games. Period.

Ubisoft, this story doesn't really make any sense. And I'll tell you why.

It portrays the Spanish Empire as having invaded Louisiana, which it actually didn't do. It was handed over peacefully by France to Spain, not invaded. British Florida was invaded by the Spanish, however.

It also portrays the Spanish as having re-enslaved the free mulatto population, which to my knowledge never happened. What gives Ubisoft?

Remember, both France and Spain were Catholic and both shared the same relatively relaxed views on African Slavery. Culturally they were no different.

And last but not least, the rebellion itself was not in support of free blacks and the poor and oppressed. Rather, the rebellion was mostly a bunch of wealthy German settlers who didn't want to share their food stockpile with the new arrivals from French Canada. The Spanish wanted to feed them with said stockpile.

The French actually had the Louisiana territory in worst shape than anyone else (Spain, then the US) with rampant starvation. So again, what gives Ubisoft?

@abHS4L88 @alrepairs Generations was a super awesome game! It may have been short but it was of very high quality, the 3D re-imagining of Chemical Plant Zone was the best thing ever. I loved it, it made me forgive Sega for what they did to Sonic from 2006-2008, it was almost as if Dr. Robotnik became CEO of Sega and tried his best to diminish the very valuable Sonic brand on purpose .

It's serves as a valuable lesson for all game companies: Don't destroy your key brands or you'll end up restructuring and not being able to afford to publish Bayonetta 2 on your own. xD

@burgeg @destiny_falcon If you look at it from the perspective of someone that's new to the Tekken series though, you gotta admit that it looks pretty insane...lol

Is this a "prediction" or is it a warning that publishers will be more aggressive about forcing digital downloads down consumers throats in the near future...?

I think it's more wishful thinking than the "wave of the future". I don't think the majority will abandon physical games that soon. Broadband is required and not everyone can afford it. (PSP GO comes to mind)

@IEABrute I agree. Nationalism and games aren't a good mix.

That's unfortunate.

When Nintendo Power was taken over by Future Publishing, the magazine actually became a serious source of info, as opposed to its earlier incarnation which served more as an advertisement.

I have nothing but good things to say about the staff. It's sad that the magazine didn't get a longer run. It was the old Nintendo Power in name only, in reality it was a very good read and with great direction all around (both artistic and otherwise).

I wish the staff very best, cheers.

Hmm..the American patriots don't seem to be the enemy in ACIII so it doesn't make much sense for the Spanish Empire to be the enemy in this one since they were allied to the Americans during the revolution..

However if that's the direction they're taking this game in then I assume the main Templar enemy would have to be Alejandro Oreilly because he was the Spanish governor of Louisiana that crushed the rebellion this game takes place in.

But on a deeper level who is this main character defending? The French? I doubt she'd rather be under French rule since they had Louisiana in worse shape. If she's fighting for freedom then why would she work with the rebellion that aimed to restore French Imperial rule to the colony...not freedom...either way I'm interested in finding out when it's released! :)
