WHy is he apologizing that his business is losing money? This was fully expected. Handhelds are on their last legs.

Only if their businness model doesn't change.
My personal suggestion to continue leading the handheld market? What makes most sense in the future is a partnership with phone companies. Hell, team up with apple to allow apple apps on your system as well. Combine that with your own games and its a winner.
Steve Jobs said it in his interview. Microsoft and google just "doesn't get it". This is exactly what he's talking about. Nin/Sony just doesn't get it. Portable devices are for convienience no one want twenty devices in their pockets. Give the people what they want and they will get it.
This guy knows what he is talking about. I completely agree with him. Nintendo would have to change their business model. Can you imagine a Mario/Zelda/Metroid game on an Apple portable device? There is already a big established market out there for the Iphones/Ipads, etc. If the 3DS continues to do badly, I believe that Nintendo could make more money by partnering up with Apple and distribute their "on the go" content through their channels. Force Apple to charge less to stay "exclusive" to them. Or partner up with other companies as well if they don't want to. We all know that bringing third-party developers on board is not one of Nintendo's strong points, so why not focus on their own IPs. Hand-held game devices like 3DS and Vita are becoming very irrelevant when looking at the bigger picture.
