I've been beta testing FFOW for the past couple of days and this game looks very promising. For those of you who haven't taken a look at it, it is a squad based FPS much like battlefield, but the difference is that instead of being able to capture any control point on the map, you have to capture specific points before moving onto the next ones. In doing this, you are moving the frontline forward. At the same time, you have to fend off the enemy from these points that you've captured or else you'll have to go back and capture them again before moving on. Like I said, its much like Battlefield, with a spin on it. Also, there are more classes to pick from with their own abilities and then you have skill sets to choose from that specialize your soldier. For example, you can be a sniper and beable to control robot droids to remotely knock out the enemy. Or you can pick the airstrike ability and call in airstrikes. Lots of choices to fully customize your character.
All around, the game looks pretty good. I'm pretty sure its uses the UT3 engine, but so far the graphics in the beta are kinda lacking even when I have the settings maxed out. But the game definitely makes up for it in gameplay.
Yeah, it looks like they are reverting back to modern combat from the looks of those jets and the tank in the pic.
Can't wait.
Yeah, really. There are so many temperature monitors out there. I have a Q6600 as well, but mines definitely not the energy efficient one. Mine runs about 48C idle with my Zalman 9500. Under load, it gets up to about 58C. Usually never goes over 60C.
But thats still pretty hot if you ask me. I'd much rather have mine down in the 30s max.
I've always been a C&C fan so over I always end up going back to it. Sometimes I'll take a big break from the game series for years, and I'll play FPS games mostly like BF2, BF2142, Crysis, Bioshock, etc.
But I always go back to C&C.
In all honesty you don't need to fork over cash for very good computer security. I test security software as part of my job, and some of the best programs I've come across are free.
Firewall: Comodo Firewall Pro -- http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
Anti-Virus: Comodo Antivirus -- http://antivirus.comodo.com/download.html
AVG Anti-Virus -- http://free.grisoft.com/
If you wanna pay for a program, or a suite, I'd consider Norton Internet Security 2008, or piecing together a security system using ESET NOD32 and Comodo Firewall Pro.
