Dull gameplay is overshadowed by a believable, dark atmosphere and story, and untraditional, game-changing choices.
The Witcher is an ambitious game when it comes to the element of choice and the story and atmosphere, and it delivers on that. But unfortunately, those seem to be the only true shining aspects of this game. I'll start... Read Full Review

A few issues, and requires a lot from the player, but beyond that, The Witcher is a really good RPG
Frequent readers and visitors of my reviews (the few there are) know that I don't play a lot of PC games. While it does have some pretty good games, there just aren't enough that makes me want to go out and spend money o... Read Full Review

Nice start, tedious in too many places, highs can't compensate for the lows
I know I'm in a minority here. So, let me start off with a few good points: Highs: - one of the best opening sequences for a game I've played. It gave me very high expectations. - good detailed story - combat was go... Read Full Review

Annoying bugs, broken dialogue and faulty combat ruined what had the potential to be an unbelievably good game.

Wow - how can this game be so over rated? makes no sense to me at all, with all the great RPGs to compare it to, it just does not stand up against the best RPGs in any area. I haven't played this game for that long, b... Read Full Review

A flawed game, enthralling yet dull, but it's hard not to appreciate the craftsmanship and the ambition.
With The Witcher 2 upon us, I recently took it upon myself to play through the original for the very first time. While I can imagine why it took players by storm in 2007, and though at times it's a great game, I also fee... Read Full Review

Broken. In a bad way.
I'm not sure if the producers of this title realize it but the constant lockups can do a number on the internal clocks of your PC components. My 2,000 computer locked up and wouldn't reboot properly for an hour afterwa... Read Full Review

The Witcher exudes rare ambition and confidence for a RPG and delivers a memorable experience despite several flaws
Moral ambiguity is something which many RPGs over the years have struggled to get a proper grasp on. Treading the thin lines of the so-called "grey area" hasn't been an easy task for many RPGs so it was no wonder that in... Read Full Review
