@tubbyc: A new GPU and an overclock on that 3770K to 4.5 Ghz would do wonders in your current build. My secondary build is a 3770K and 1060 and it is great for 1080p/60fps.
I'm gaming only in 1080p. So, the XB1X wins by default. Besides, my current FX-8350/GTX 1060 6GB still falls short. It's got a year, maybe two, before I assemble a new PC.
Getting a new cpu will give such a performance boost in quite a few games it will be like getting a new gpu.

Yeah, I was considering an upgrade for a while. I'll see how I go over the next few years. The thing is, I've got many PS4 games to catch up on and many more to come, and it will just be a bit of PC gaming on the side. Haven't been playing much lately, but plan to get stuck into it all again soon.
Your CPU much more powerful and your GPU can be on par with a simple overclock.
GTX 970 has memory bandwidth and storage bottleneck. I overclock my GTX 980 Ti 6 GB to 1428 Mhz (8 TF) and it couldn't reach rock solid 4K/60 fps Forza wet track.
Notice 980 Ti's L2 cache memory bandwidth. 3 MB L2 cache is connect to Pixel Engine. About 1 GB is reserve for display during CUDA processing. The practical memory bandwidth doesn't have DCC active.
Hawaii XT's L2 cache memory bandwidth is about 1 TB/s. 1 MB L2 cache is NOT connect to Pixel Engine i.e. only useful for GpGPU/Compute Engine.

I recommend upgrading your GPU now as it is a minimal investment. That will allow you to enjoy the multi plats properly at 1080p/60fps with your PC hooked up to your TV. PS4 and even the PS4 Pro struggle to deliver a proper gaming experience.
My computer beats it by a mile. That is why console power means very little to me.
Yeah, aside from the original GPU it had, the PC I built in 2010 beats out the X1X in CPU and memory, and I got rid of that clunker machine a year ago lol.
Nothing wrong with wanting a more powerful console, and for these console only gamers it's going to work wonders for their multiplats. But if you really want power, consoles aren't the place to go.
Consoles are for exclusives and party games. PC for everything else.
Faster than my own computer by a wide margin, but the game library still sucks in comparison, the games are more expensive and the visual difference will be negligible at best.

2010 CPUs doesn't have AXV compatibility and a few SSE4.1 games has fcked-up broken SSE4.x CPUs
The only reason to have a powerful pc/Mac would be for professional design/media work. Who in their right mind wants to put a $27,000 microwave in their house to play games? If I had $27,000 to spare I'd be in a 3rd world country surrounded by 50 beautiful women.
1080 ti zotac amp extreme out of box overclock of 2 ghz not really stable to go much higher
5820k 4.6 ghz hyperthreading off most of the time 6 core 12 threaded cpu
32gb ddr4 2133 mhz
My pc wins by a lot and I still want more power. planning on upgrading to volta next year might get a Titan don't feel like waiting for the ti. Also will be getting a new tv with hdmi 2.1 for Variable Refresh Rate, HDR, and hoping for 120hz Refresh Rate and lower input lag.

So yeah, my PC rules over Xbox One X but then again, I was always told that a 1070 can play few games in 4K but since I only have a 1440p monitor, I can't say for sure.
@davillain-: Your 1070 handles 4K better than the XboneX for sure. You may need to dial some things down from ultra to high to maintain 60fps but it still destroys the XboneX.

That's nice to know a 1070 dominates 4K better then X1X could ever provide. 4K is nice indeed and if I see a good 4K monitor, I won't half to upgrade my GPU in a few years.
@davillain-: Yup the 1070 is a beast and should last you a long time. I'm enjoying my superclocked 1070 as well. It eats everything I throw at it and it's reasonably priced too. I was thinking about going the 1080Ti route but I changed my mind and I'm glad I did, the 1070 suits my needs perfectly.

In my case, it just wouldn't be worth the over 400AUD. There's only Dark Souls III (I like to collect all trophies for these games), What Remains of Edith Finch, Ace Combat 7 and Vanquish (which I will get on PC) in terms of multi plats I want to get which are also on/coming to PC for the rest of this gen, and honestly, I don't mind when games are 30FPS. It is a bit nicer when a game runs at 60FPS obviously, but I find 30FPS to be playable no problem.
I don't think ill ever buy another console. The money I used to spend on them now goes on better upgrades which means I can always have a really good PC. I am a creative person and I do a lot of things that consoles simply cant do, Iv had enough experience with all types of platforms over many years and I believe gaming is better on PC and as big as PC gaming is, it is still only half of the reason I choose PC.
Considering the fact that I am waiting to upgrade to 4k until I can get a single card that will do 4k60 w/ max settings, my pc is leaps and bounds better than the xb1x. Rock solid 1080p60 w/ max settings from my build....the same cannot be said from the xb1x.
Total cost of my build was around $1500 though. The XB1X is well worth $500, but the average consumer wont see it that way.
using older parts for my gf pc I just started building cause we did plan to buy 2 x1x but seeing as I don't really care about 4k and more focus on 60fps for me.
I pull out my fx 8120 3.1 ghz 8 gb ddr3 ram upgrading it to 16 gb, 980ti
I had laying around to make her pc so we can play destiny 2 and Anthem together even with those old parts I think her's beat it too
lol at PC winning. I'm sure it is mainly Sony fans voting with their imaginary super hardcore gamer PC. It is the same one they play Xbox games on with their super duper PC that is always set to max settings lol.
