Uncharted Creative Director Forced Out Of Naughty Dog

It's strange that I'm more deeply saddened by this than the Uncharted fans... I never thought Uncharted had outstanding Gameplay, but I played all the games and really enjoyed the writing above all else.

Without knowing the details I feel that gaming sites in general are so guilty of this constantly.

More people leaving the Titanic is not news, I am sure it was for a better position. Any new IPs over there at ND to be excited about.

When you make 2 top 5 GOAT, the bar of excellence is too much for some to handle. We all wish her well on her future endeavors and hopes she remembers to Live, Learn and Love like SONY and Naughty Gods taught her.

Seems like Uncharted, like mgs4, gonna be causing massive butthurt, in lems and herms for years to come.

Druckmann and Straley 'forcing' her out doesnt make any sense..they are broke up into two different team. they have been on TLoU for years now and havent even worked on the Uncharted series since the 2nd one.

Do we understand what "forced out" means? Will we ever understand? Maybe it was the natural progression of the company? Or possibly it was Hennig's decision as Druckman and Straley were editing her work, which she felt was taking creative freedom away from her? Or maybe those two bullied her into leaving so they could have all the treasure?

I wish her the best though. Her work on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves helped make the game great with its fun narrative and well-realized characters. And Drake's Fortune and Drake's Deception aren't anything to scoff at either! If she continues working in this industry, I hope she's able to find a position where she's able to continue assisting developers realize their characters and games. A few studios come to mind when thinking about who could benefit from her talent (Guerilla Games and Bioware being a couple of them).

Where is all the sympathy from Sony Fan about her losing her job like we saw in an earlier layoff thread?????

Well it sounds like they played a game of the weakest link and she apparently won.

Too bad she lost her job but as a story writer what she did is nothing compared to TLOU. Her work isn't bad, it just isn't compelling or inspiring it simply "worked" and that was really the weakest part of the Uncharted package. I never really found a reason to care about the story or characters other than recognizing that everything fit and was well put togeher.

I think she'll be fine. There are sooo many studios having the Naughty Dog fever, that for them to be able to hire the Queen herself will seem very tempting indeed.

People sometimes get complacent AND/OR companies needs change. It happens. I'm happy she has such an awesome body of work to be able to select from a host of opportunities. SW will fight about anything

Leaving would indicated, she had enough of the bullshit and didnt want to be there anymore so she abondon the place.

"Forced out would mean that the people in suite above her hand some plans and she was in the way/ or wasnt willing to comply, therefore they were the ones to give her the boot.

One means she doesnt give a **** and bounced, the other means she gave a **** but the other voted her out.

Anyways, we dont know what went down. You got to remember that you can never trust these cites about these matters, becuz she could have been sick and had to call it quits her self for all we know, but a website hungry for views may say that she was bullied out or she got pissed and abandon everything.

Unlike many of the derps in this thread I actually thought it was a positive that Naughty Dog had 2 great writers with 2 entirely different writing styles.

Comparing Uncharted to The Last of Us is like comparing Star Wars to The Terminator. They have two totally different tones and I can enjoy each for what they are, rather than wish that one was more like the other. Most reasonable people will see this as a loss for Naughty Dog.

Guys like Master Chief (doesn't even talk), Kratos, Solid Snake were huge if not after their first game, their second definitely. Nate Drake is just a guy in comparison.. People already gravitate towards Ellie and Joel way more than Drake after just one game..
