My god, this new commercial for Odyssey is amazing.
@spike6958: I typically like to avoid watching too many trailers for games, especially one so close to release but I couldn't resist this one. I love a good musical number with some big band music.
Really fun trailer. :)
@rrjim1: Might I recommend a good night's sleep? :)
he can just stick around for the porn spam.
:eggplant:
EDIT
oh right.
Dunno if this was posted, cos i'm too lazy to check... The new game mode is gonna be great!
"Game Journalist Mode"?
Ha. Since when do people that play games for a living require such hand holding? As if Mario games have ever been that difficult when not wandering off the beaten path. I wonder how well this is going over in the profession as that's pretty fucking patronizing.
Or did someone doc this up?
Just for some further clarification. Nintendo games are not known for being very difficult. But the point is. Some game journalists are absolutely terrible at games they are meant to review. Comparatively speaking a movie reviewer, will usually know how to pick a movie apart and analyze the deeper themes behind it.
Jesus.
Even little kid me had beat DKC2 and SMB3.
That video puts reviews into perspective.
Notice how all the easy flashy movie like games get so much praise. Because they are easy to finish and they look pretty and they give you a pat on the back. Not true of all reviewers, but the good majority clearly.
Meanwhile they will give games 9/10 10/10 even if other elements absolutely suck (E.G MP) ... you have to review the whole package, not just the easy hand-holding SP that they probably finish on easy/normal just to hurry and write the review.
You barely ever see any real criticism of mechanics... or the long term appeal, just a simple:
1) Goood graphics? 9.
2) playing to nostalgia? 9?
3) big publisher game with lots of hype? 9.
Reviews from sites like this are so low tier, you can get good reviews which detail every bit of a games mechanics on youtube... these guys never end up of this shit metacritic site, but 1 of their reviews can be worth 10 reviews on metacritic.
@MBirdy88: There are good sources for video game opinion and analysis. There are blogs and many Youtube channels like TurboButton, Sunder, Joseph Anderson and Mark Brown who do a better job than the general game critic you'd find online. None of these channels use scores to represent their opinion and they all offer great perspectives, fresh knowledge and thought-provoking opinions on games rather than the usual nondescript opinion you might find on a more popular publication.
@davillain-Ugh. I love a good cup of tea. Made myself one now in response. :P

This is a fun concept for a platformer! I wonder if the Mario Odyssey team took inspiration from this.
This is Gamespot.com; this game is made by Japanese devs. They don't seem to do any wrong at this point with GS. 10/10
Not only Japanese devs, they're biased towards consoles and mainstream games.
AAAAE. A true Mario 3D platformer has no rival in the genre. The return of the open world + precision platforming + some free running elements + awesome level design = perfection. I'm on the hype train.
Sometimes I wish I could fall asleep and wake up on the morning of the 27th. (without getting in trouble with my boss)
9/10. Is what it looks like to me.
Hope I'm wrong, though. =P
You're back :)
Totally missed this comment. lol. Yep, from time to time. Glad to see that your doing well.
On Topic: I'm sticking with 9/10. Though, I'm going by what we've seen so far.
Does anybody else hate that trailer music like I do? It's in every trailer since e3. Video game music shouldn't have singing

I actually love the song
Another Mario...
lol :P
I'm sure there's a game series you like that I could yawn gif too.
@Bread_or_Decide:
That's a given my friend but I think that's the best yawn gif on the net. lol
Ya know I'm just messing around. :P
Ending up pre-ordering the Odyssey Switch bundle because I'm a sucker. My favorite N64 controller was my red one as a kid, so when I saw the Odyssey joyconns I had to go for it.

Is the red color different than those found on the neon red joycon controllers?

Yes
@knight-k: Do you believe this twaddle that reviewers are scared to give Nintendo low scores as well then?
So basically SMO will get shat on if it score highly (reviews scared/biased) or to low (it’s a flop, one of the worst evers!!).
Couldn’t give a feck either way myself.

Who the hell really cares at this point, lol
ABANDON HYPE THREAD, THIS GAME IS GOING TO FLOP
R you joking? or its going to be another AAAA?
IGN growing a pair and giving a generic ninty game a fitting score. Good, let's hope this leak is real.
@charizard1605: I knew it. I guessed flop just 10 minutes ago.
Nintendo finally getting the scores they actually deserve

Thank goodness for IGN for having the courage to come out and speak against Nintendo's regurgitation of their franchises by giving their next game a great score instead of an amazing score. Mad respect. Captain Toad would be impressed.
