The reason has to be that reviewers love rooting for the little guy. Bolstering Nintendo up by giving these obviously average games amazing scores since Nintendo can't compete with Sony and Microsoft outright.

They make games that are basically the equivalent of PS3 era games, on hardware that is the equivalent of PS3 era hardware, with no story, the same childish mechanics, and they've conditioned their fans so much to mediocrity that the inclusion of voice acting is a big deal now. Wake up Nintendo fans, it's 2017, your beloved company hasn't been relevant since like 20 years now.

Still, I'm still abit p*ssed that Fire Emblem Warriors was a 6... clearly a solid 7, or 8... by far the best implementation of those Warrior games... Hyrule Warriors was crap in comparison.

Still, I'd take SMO as an 8 over Uncharted 4 as a "10".

Looks interesting, but Mario games haven't appealed to me for quite some time.

The ONLY thing I’ve seen that would make the IGN leak a fake is the fact that the embargo doesn’t end for 3 more days. So odds of the reviewer being done is small given that Nintendo has been stingy with advance copies.

It's great when 8.6 is considered low for a company. That's why Nintendo is head and shoulders above the competition.

I just hope its the one I've been waiting for. I haven't enjoyed a mario platformer since Sunshine. 3dLand was awful and 3d world looked like more 3dland. Both games remind me of the NSMB series which I hate.
