camera panning where 30 fps chokes

When it comes to fps the main difference is the way the game feels it just makes the game feel so smooth as for just watching it is not too noticeable. And anyone who disagrees is either blind or has never played 2 versions of the same game at 30 and 60 fps. If I had to guess it would be the one on the left.
Exactly. Watching 3rd person characters, with a black background, is hardly displaying the full disparity between the two. When you play a pc game and you have crazy smooth camera controls on 60fps, then go to 30fps, it feels unplayable.
Check out this Sleeping Dogs comparison. When he's panning the camera, especially at 50 and 20% speeds, you can really see how bad it is.
I think this thread should be pinned though.
Considering so many people said "I can't tell the difference" even in a scenario like this with both side by side and now are talking about "60fps >>>>> 30fps" is quite funny
Is mostly console players. I can't blame them, most games from last gen don't even run stable 30fps, even worse those trying to reach 60. So this is something new to a lot of them. Plus is honestly a bit harder to tell from gifs, the video's do the trick though.
Not very good example. I think best to tell in shooting game because game look hyper realistic in 60fps and takes time to adjust but game is smoother.
u cant tell the difference any1 that tells u otherwise is a liar. but if u r playing the game u can feel the difference.
play Metal Gear Rising and then DMC. Play any Call of Duty game and then Halo, Resistance or some other FPS and get owned.
Not a good test imo, try panning the camera in a third person or first person game with a reasonable level of sensitivity and it'll look very noticeable.
The main difference is not in what you see but how it feels. The game plays a lot more fluidly especially when making fast movements panning the camera. Heck i couldn't bare Minecraft at less than 60 because it just feels horrible to move the camera around.
The difference is in the controls more than the visuals... it's the feeling of responsiveness and fluidity that these gifs can't represent. When I play Skyrim at 120hz, it feels like an entirely different game than when I played it on 360. The big test is panning the camera around... you don't see the effects of higher framrate as much as you feel it. The feedback loop response is notably more immediate.
