On a serious note I do get the concerns on content that everyone is talking about. But if things like this are such a deal breaker for $60, you either need to reevaluate how much $60 really is in 2016, (games used to cost more than that in the 90's) or some of you should start looking for new hobbies.

The Witcher 3 cost $60. This costs $60. Please, think about that for awhile.

I paid $60 for The Witcher 3 and didn't like it. Judging on my past with fighters like SF IV, MK X and Smash I will get more hours of entertainment from my $60 with SF V than I had with The Witcher 3. Does that not count for anything? And getting good at SF V will be far more fulfilling for me than hitting The Witcher Sense button for 80 hours. That shit isn't "gaming" that's hand-holding and lazy game design but that's for another discussion.

EDIT: And lets not pretend that The Witcher is a model for cost effective and sustainable game design. If it weren't for consoles The Witcher 3 would not have been made. And how did it do sales wise? Not in the top 10 in sales in 2015. Let's see how The Witcher 4 looks.........

Street fighter was almost never complete. Minor and major revisions have been taking place since the series started. I do not care for this method but it gives the impression that there's just "Street Fighter 5".

I personally think rosters are TOO large. I'd prefer smaller, more distinct, balanced characters. Releasing a fighting game with 50 characters and expecting the developer to support game balance for 5 years is actually asking quite a bit.

@GoldenElementXL: Whether you liked the Witcher 3 or not you still have to admit there is a lot more to that game as far as the work that went into it goes and the games vast scope and they still didn't feel the need to whore it out with DLC from day one. Paying for costumes? Have fun with that.

P.s.

Since this gen started we had games launch

- Absolutely broken (AC: Unity, Battlefield 4). But hey, at least we had DLC that we could pay for, DLC to use in our broken games

- Void of content (Battlefront and R6 Siege taking out the singleplayer). But hey, who needs a singleplayer anyway when you can pay an additional 30-50 dollars for a season pass for a multiplayer game that will be dead within a year anyway ?

- Filled with micro transactions (Forza 6). Freaking micro transactions in a 60 dollar racer to get some more cars.

And now this game... With it's in game store, lack of features, short as hell singleplayer, broken features. It's really taking all the BEST elements from this gen so far.

Oh, it's only going to get worse

and worse

and worse

Welp, looks like Killer Instinct Season 1 and 2 is the better fighting game that even tells you that it's F2P while you're stuck playing a "has been" fighting game franchise that forces you to pay $60 with a F2P model inside! LOL

Premium costumes, no. Regular costumes, yes.

That's what i got from GAF, anyway. Kind of hard to tell with all the outrage.

Should have released characters for free, and just charge for costumes. The community has shown that they will go apeshit for hats. See Dota, CS & Hearthstone.

@mark1974: one is not targeting a as big audience.. think about that. If you exapect bigger profits the budget will be bigger. Like star wars.. its still the same price for the movie ticket right ?

Im buying this game cuase its works for now and i know whats coming. They havent let me down yet. Loved Sf4 and dont have it on my ps4.

I could understand the individual issuses some of you guys have here but i garantee you the masses will not complain and that the future content will be aaa material.

I have the game and have almost 9,000 in Fight Money (without doing Story/Survival mode yet). This is not even a full 24 hours. Round that up to 10,000, and multiply it by 10+ days and you will have 100,000 within a month, assuming one plays this regularly and, of course, wins their matches at least 50%-60% of the time (I would hope).

50 FM for each win sounds small, but they give you 100 sometimes (not sure what I did but maybe it was from a few Perfect rounds or Critical Arts wins), and every time you level up you get 1000-1500. And you level up even when you lose. And after 10-15 matches, you are leveling up no matter what. So you are getting periodic 1000-1500 boosts even if you are not a good player.

I'm not too worried about this whole unlocking scheme. They made the bar challenging enough but not sky-high "Olympian impossible" but they didn't make it Day Care easy either. By my rough estimate, if you play it regularly for a month, you will easily get 100,000 just playing SF like you normally do. I haven't even included the Daily Objectives that Capcom mentioned, which will give additional infusions of FM to your total (probably earned by sweeping 10 times or doing 10 dragon punches, etc).

And even if you are horrible at the game, I think you still get FM anyways if you are in a Casual lobby. If you want (I haven't tried this), you might even trade wins with a friend and still get FM. Whatever the case, I don't think reaching 100,000 is that impossible. To me this is all extra stuff anyways, and I'm earning fight money for future DLC characters down the line or new costumes. Believe it or not, I actually think the leveling up and unlocking is kind of fun. SF never had this before. I've played thousands of matches in SFIV and didn't get anything but a Rank number. Now I'm earning something with every one of my matches.

They did what Turn 10 did with Forza 5, they made progressing more difficult than it should be naturally to drive people towards the micro-transactions in the game...

It's shitty man...

Yes, because it has to be logged and checksumed against their servers for validity.

No, they are setup the same, but you cannot progress in the game or attain anything when not connected to the network.

It's one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.

2000 victories lol, this isn't much different from some of the past Forza games with the token system (otherwise with the expensive cars), I was cool with that though, it was just one of the things I liked about it for that genre. But it's a system where only the most hardcore or dedicated players of players will do this. I'm not entirely sure I'd like this in this genre.

Is it 2000 matches or rounds that have to be won?

Dem Zenny's to da ready am confirmed.

SFV is supposed to be more inviting to new players. Having a smaller payout for losses would go a long way towards keeping new players engaged as they learn the ropes.

@charizard1605: I was just giving the price i paid for Bayonetta. You could say that you made the deep analysis of my purchase rather than me.

Oh and i paid 7.80 dollars for Ryu, Cloud, Bayonetta if i remember right for the WiiU. Problem was Cloud is one of ky favourite rpgs, ryu is treet fighter (please be a capcom vs nintendo on nx), Bayonetta 2 is the probably the best beat em up game ive played since streets of rage and golden axe. I needed all 3.

I accidentally put Forza 6 on there, while it should've been Forza 5.

Anyway, I'm responsible for buying some of those games as well: Battlefield 4 and AC Unity. But I only bought them at a way later date and they were patched up and playable by then... In fact they were good games.

But it's clear to me that the respect for consumers is gone from some companies. So I'm way more skeptical now when I buy a big budget game. In fact buying those at release sounds like a no-go.

This whole $60 games being sold with free to play business models is a joke. Especially games like SFV, Evolve, Rainbow Six, Destiny and other games that barely have any content to begin with. These companies can't finish a game before release but they can sure as hell make sure to have their nickel and dime microtransaction system in place day 1.

Right ok people, you gain 10,000 per story that you finish and they take 2-3 mins each, so you can unlock the characters and costumes in less than an hour but sure, lets pretend that this is the wort thing ever.

I mean I've only amassed 500,000 at least on all 3 of the accounts that I've had wIped and that took me less than an hour each but what do I know right?

Finishing a character's story in 2-3 minutes each... is a good thing ?

am not gonna lie.... I had to scratch my head a bit on that one too.

He must have been playing it with one hit kills or something........ even then though still :-I

The worst part is when this nonsense begins to infect even otherwise content complete AAA games- for example, we can't escape the fact that this microtransaction nonsense is in MGSV, or that it has adversely impacted game balance there. It is also in Forza and Gran Turismo, and in both those cases, the games suffered, simply because the microtransactions were there and skewed balance. Same with Halo 5: Guardians and Assassin's Creed Unity.

I guess my hope is that Uncharted 4 doesn't fall to this nonsense, but seeing how uncharted 3 already did, I honestly don't have much hope in this regard.

Nope, nope, nope...

Halo 5 has a very fleshed out balancing mechanic in place, something these other games do not have, also getting requisition packs is not hard and the micro-transactions are what is funding all of the post release DLC and helping fund tournaments.

Big difference there...

Anyone else remember when seeing Konami or Capcom on the box meant that you were likely in for a good time?

Yes I think about this all the time, along with Squaresoft. I miss the old days.

It's getting to the point where we are being charged $60 just to have the privilege of being nickel and dimed to access the content the $60 is supposed to grant us. This industry is so disgusting right now.

Yeah, it's shitty as f*ck.

Look, I understand that game development costs are escalating, and returns on investments needed to be made, but this either means:

a) Publishers need to be better about handling game budgets
b) They need to inculcate long term relationships with their customers, rather than try to seek short term gain and risk alienating their base

It's like all these major companies are being run by a group of short sighted monkeys.
