The biggest issue to me is the quote system, how after a certain number of quotes, it puts different peoples' comments to the side, looking like it's all one post from one person.
Of course it would also be good if it could be sped up, and there was also a handy indicator of the number of unread posts in the previous build.
The main site layout is nice though, and an improvement.

Anyway, looking at it now, don't think the new forums are too bad, while there are some annoying issues (usernames cut in half, no number of thread pages, no jumping at the last unread post), I believe most can be fixed with time.

This feature is broken for me. I still have a notification left over from the beta. (It even links to spacecat.gamespot.com still) But no notifications for any quotes now in the main site.
Looking at the main forum page, I don't care how many views a topic has. Would be better if it said total messages on the left and new (unread) messages on the right.

I dont like how you check your post history anymore. You cant see the topic, your post and if there are new posts in the topic. Its a bit more confusing
Also theres a post limit on new accounts? I wanted to move to a new accountvfor the new site to match my youtube name and gamertag but i cant post cos it says "post limit reached". Can anyone shed light on this area?

I agree, I have a big issue with this as well. The quotes just stop working properly at a point.
Actually, it seems it's fixed now. The posts from days ago seem to be where the messed up quotes are.

Sucks for you, but it's probably the ideal way to stop trolling alts honestly. Post limit, threads limit (or actually not being allowed to create any thread until level 10), harsher penalties for breaking the rules while under level 10... it sucks when any of us just want to create a new account, but these seem like ideal measures to stop the rampant alt trolling (though I doubt they did anything more than the post limit).
Btw, those Oculus Rift videos are f*ckin awesome! Shame the games aren't quite as great as some of the other horror games you've played. Though I expect that a year from now that will all change! :D
Well, with my starting over, I never ran into any posting limits, at least on the "old" site. I suppose the limits are reasonable, unless you really post a lot. Not being able to create threads may suck for some, but I don't care, since I very rarely make threads.
Its really hard to keep up with a convo with this new layout. It feels like people's posts just run into each other and you forget where one post ends and another begins. And its hard to tell who said what due to no sigs and pretty much no one having avatars lol. Some people on GS I only recognize based on their sigs/avys.
One thing that has been annoying me is the fact that in the old site it was super easy to see in which threads you had already posted and wether or not they had new posts. With this new site (for now at least) all thread titles appear with the same colouring and I have to memorize the thread titles and see if there are actually new posts or not. Kinda sucks really...

same here.It was much easier to keep up with the topics you posted . Go to post history and check if there are new posts. That is a big deal breaker for me. Also the quick quote would be good if it came back ( not that big of a deal though )

I guess I can understand it for that aspect but I hadn't posted anything out of the ordinary and it is still limited after like a day of not posting anything with it. Just wanted clarification on the system more than anything
and yeah the Oculus Rift is amazing. it's not perfect yet and the games do lack imagination sometimes or polish but overall it's such a crazy experience. It's hard use one and then not think it has a huge future

Yeah it was FAR more intuitive. It made it really really easy to keep up to date on topics. It's a mess now and it's making me post less in threads I've already posted in cos it takes more time to read through and find new posts or see where I left off

That, along with no GIF sigs, are the among the worst complaints I have about the site. I mean, what reason is there to have no emoticons?

Preventing spam is one thing... but this honestly sucks. Means I have to put up with 5 days of severe restrictions (after 25 posts, you're allowed to post normally), as I don't want to use this account anymore. Nameless is my primary.

I can't help but think this site design was mainly to save bandwith for poor spot.
It made sense for GB being a poor startup site funded by excomunicatred GS review staff, but here it's just weird.
What parts of these site reduce bandwidth compared to the previous one?
no clue I'm not a web designer or anything, i'd just imagine the lack of gifs and sigs might in some way attritbute to the use of bandwith for the site.

Eh, my point still stands. It's just a site and all of us will get over it within a month.
And some of us will get over it by reducing the use of this forum over time. I know I'll be, if the option to jump to go straight to the first unread post isn't returned. It's a nightmare to use the forums without it.
Oh, and by any chance if you haven't realized yet, most complaints aren't about the changed layout.

But linking to GIFs (or any images for that matter) hosted on other sites doesn't affect bandwidth of GS in any way. It's only now that images take up space, since IMG tags are gone and GS rehosts every image we post here. So when a lot of people load a page with lot of images, a huge amount of bandwidth is necessary. And this is only due to this new design with tags disabled.
