Sounds I was late to the party again , well congratulation to all my manticore friends @BassMan and @davillain- , I hope you can play your favorite games on your favorite platform. But let's discuss what this could mean to Sony, developers and gamers

It's objectively a good thing for business and consumers. Sucks for cows though.

It'll be an interesting gen to be sure, though as long as Sony's hardware sales remain as strong as they are I can't see it becoming the norm as much as I wish it would.

As an interesting proxy, at one time in history, different major movie companies owned different movie theatres that only showed movies made by that company. So people had to go to different places to see different movies. That obviously didn't last... so it doesn't shock me the gaming industry is slowing following a similar path that is more consumer friendly.

sales speak louder than fanboys so if there is more money to be made by releasing games on multiple platorms that is what will happen.

Yeah, as I've been saying for months, the hardware-independent "Software First" approach just makes business sense in light of the drastic changes in the console market over the last 7 years. Microsoft saw that early and jumped in first, and salvaged their generation with it. The latest news show that while Sony are not yet ready to commit with the same ambition, they are certainly thinking about it. Don't be surprised if they eventually reach the same conclusion.

But of course, this is System Wars. Stuck in analogue thinking in a digital world.

Sony would likely lose a negligible amount of hardware sales compared to what they'd rake in with the software sales. Most console players couldn't give a shit about PC, not like they're going to switch over in droves. Likewise, most PC gamers would rather miss an exclusive or two than purchase a console just to play them.

Sony could further minimize the "issue" by going with timed exclusives, want the PC version, gotta wait six months to a year. Personally would prefer same day obviously, but at least Sony would know they got what they're gonna get if the game is a real system seller.

Its definitely not good business for PS5 putting your exclusives on PC its VERY BAD causes a rift with PC gamers not having to buy your platform

It is my favorite PS exclusive this gen and it ran at 30fps even on the Pro. So, finally being able to play the game properly on PC is a big deal. The game has been freed from its shackles.

It's more the prospect of buying one less box and being able to play these console exclusives that we enjoy, the way we'd like to enjoy them.

I couldn't give a shit about Horizon. I have a PS4, still don't want the game.

But if I could play Bloodborne with better performance, the controller of my choice, and a nice visual boost as a bonus? Yes plz.

These all play like typical console games lol.

It's straight-up a first-party game, plus it's a well received, and overall an excellent game. Makes sense for people to be excited.

@lundy86_4: I know, HZD is excellent. Thing is, people would have told you otherwise when it came out. Still, this never happens everytime a PC game is announced, it just happens with PS exclusives, which says a lot about their quality.

@Arkhalipso: To what are you referring? QD's release on PC was kinda luke-warm, but a little excitement. Halo MCC got a lot of excitement from PC gamers and media outlets. It doesn't just happen with PS exclusives.

We were just as excited for Xbox Play Anywhere and the MS exclusives. It is nice to have games that you like available on your platform of choice. There were plenty of people excited when the PC exclusive Fortnite came to consoles. Or when PUBG went to Xbox, etc.. All games should be on all platforms as long as it is suited for the platform. I am not a fan of exclusives. I am fan of good games and some of them sadly are exclusives.

Yes, the most brutal thing about BB is not the difficulty, it is the performance. This was especially painful after having played the Dark Souls games on PC at 60fps and proper frame timing.

I'm tearing up, PC beggars years of petition actually worked. Amazing work.

I went back to play BB, because it's a fucking great game, but the frame-timing destroyed it for me. I lasted about an hour, and it sucks.

@lundy86_4: Halo is an iconic franchise. I was referring to single titles if that makes sense. Still, I have to admit that when MS announced that all their games would be available on PC it made quite the fuss.

Oh man, I don't remember it with Sekiro on PC. I could be wrong, but I thought it performed decently. I've been itching to start the game up again (couldn't get past Headless Ape,) so this tempts me to see how it performs.

What this means is that console devs shit all over PC devs, with less hardware power to play with. they create games that hermits crave, and can't live without, and you guys are still waiting on Star Citizen :)

Yeah, won't pretend to know exactly how it works, though I'd assume that the higher refresh rate you're getting on PC would likely make frame pacing issues less noticeable.

Bloodborne was already an inconsistent 30fps, the frame timing just added insult to injury lol.

what really sucks is playing a game that is locked @30 fps

This would only be great for PC gamers and people who never planned in owning a Playstation. Will see how far Sony takes it or even if this leaks true at all. But start whoring your exclusives out and the best Sony can hope for Is a poor mans Steam service.

I owned every Sega console, every Xbox console, a N64 & a PS1 & 2, and played just abut every genre of game there is, so yeah I've tried a few different things, hermitism isn't one of them, as i'm not a person who buys something only to complain that what I bought can't play other games and take to forums to beg for them lol.

If console only, exclusive title loving gamers are looking for a place to blame, go look in a mirror. I’ve been poking fun at these attach rates for over a decade. Console gamers on these boards love talking about voting with their wallets. Well you’ve done it. By not buying exclusive games at an acceptable rate, y’all have scared your 1st party devs off to other platforms. The reason Nintendo doesn’t have to budge is because they have 30%-50% attach rates. Not 3%-5%.
