Video games are a luxery, there is no if's or buts about it. They are not essential in life.

clyde46

Recreation, playing, entertainment.

These are necessities.

Before we had video games, we had card games.

Before that we had physical games.

Horse games.

Pattycake.

Recreation is as essential to life as eating and sleeping.

Go play outside then, go play with a soccer ball. Video games are not essential for recreation.

Social evolution

Not necessarily healthy but it is what it is.

What a sad state of affairs we live in when we think that video games are an essential.

For lazy people. I still spend a lot of time exercising and doing physical activities.

[QUOTE="AmazonTreeBoa"]I hope this card releases soon. Building a new PC and was set on a 680, but it looks like I will be getting a 780 instead.RyviusARC

The GTX 780 is not the card they are talking about in the article.

The Titan is a completely different card.

The GTX 780 will most likely be around 15% more powerful than the GTX 680 at best.

Have any info on a release date for the 780?

Great, only one problem though, there are NO GAMES doing that card justice, there's NO MARKET for it, and who pays $1000 for a graphics card... 2000W desktop PC's are so passé...

Well that's awesome news. I won't have the money by then for my 680, so I might as well save some more and get a 780.

That would probably be a complete guess, I doubt it will be that much, but I reckon it will still be a good $800

No, but I could see the 790 costing that much. I am guessing around $600 for the 780.

I think the GTX 780 will cost the same as the GTX 680 was on release.

The Titan is not the GTX 780 it is an entirely different card.

The GTX 780 won't release until later this summer.

The Titan will be coming out earlier and my guess is that it will be priced at around 800-900USD maybe slightly more or less.

I heard the release of the top end Nvidia and AMD GPUs for the 700 and 8000 series are being held back until summer.

About the same period as Intel releases Haswell i.e. new CPU with new GPU.

well cows it would appear that ony has awoken a rather big angry behemoth. the mighty nvidia has explained today that AMD is not the target of their new nvidia geforce titan 780 graphics card. rather the titan is geared at renderring consoles event next-gen ones weak and petty from the start. their overall plan would be to crush them in terms of raw horsepower overnight and then sell such technology to developers to make it seem rather empty to invest in weaker primitive technology.
http://www.techpowerup.com/179750/It-s-Sony-Not-AMD-in-GeForce-Titan-s-Crosshair.html

they seem content on crushing next-gen before next-gen happens and then selling the potential to the source of games. sorry cows you may get flattened by a giant green monster before kaz can throw you a rope

i recommend ducking for the nearest shelter cows.. nvidia has a funny habit of squishing companies like insects on impact if you dont believe me ask voodoo, matrox, and 3dfx

DISSESHOWEDO

Yeah a 1000$ GPU will crush 400-500 dedicated to gaming hardware, good luck !

Agreed. Why are they even concerned about consoles? Are they butthurt that the next-gen systems don't have a nVdia card in them? Last time I checked Sony and Microsoft don't make GPU cards. So I'm not sure how they are going to crush anything.
