Horizon Forbidden West - reviews, impressions, and reactions!

Hope it drops to 88, my prediction needs to be accurate.

sounds like a great sequel for those who enjoyed the first one. that game never clicked for me so I'm happy to wait for the eventual PC release and maybe for a discount beyond that.

hopefully those who pick it up enjoy it

I don't know man! I don't follow PC. I don't even have a laptop at home. I have a 2021 12.9 iPad Pro for all my computing needs.

I can care less about the score.

What I don't like is that these reviewers review these games without the day one patch.

They never even fixed the pop-in with the first one. As far as reviewing goes, blame Sony for giving them review copies without the patch.

About what I expected, on GS and Metacritic.

Not sure if I want to get this one yet. I could use a new PS5 game to play these days but I never finished the first one so I'm hesitant to drop full price on this one right out of the gate. Decisions, decisions.

@x_hedon: Kvally, you keep mentioning the pop in like it's a N64/PS1 game, I platinumed the first game and don't recall pop in because it was such a non issue. I'm sure the game had it, but they hide it very well.

It's just something I noticed having finally finished the game yesterday in prep for the new one. It was noticeable but didn't bother me and wasn't very distracting. It wasn't like a building just popped up in front of me. It was usually shadows, trees, or otherwise mountainous views in the background that would draw in. I was too focused on the machines and gathering resources anyway to give a flying hoot.

Lems have just had three games scoring 9,9 and 9 here at GameSpot in the last few months with metacritic of 87,90 and 92 for the same games if metacritic is the back up for the HFW 8 out of 10.

Eurogamer said this game is functionally identical to the first game, and the new features don't fix any of the first game's problems. Also the story is apparently terrible?

That's a hard pass from me. I didn't care about any of the characters or events on HZD, which is mostly why I gave up on it - fighting robot dinosaurs gets old when there's zero investment in the world or people.

@Planeforger: I don't see how it is functionally identical to the first game. It would be obviously similar but just the inclusion of the hand glider and being able to explore underwater already changes the navigation.

PlayStation is surely doomed.

The game came out after MS was the owner of Zenimax. MS also own the ip. It's a technicality, but as they say, a win is a win. Deathloop is officially a MS game and ip.

If the score is high and is related to a Sony system, they count. If its the other systems, nobody cares. Why is it so hard to understand?
