(Gotta give Starfield that retro style here) With the leaks and early review copies going out for reviewers, we better get this out of the way and set up Starfield's hype thread...except for me as I'm keeping my expectations in check but still want to play it on PC.

The only thing I don't like about what's been happening to Starfield is AMD is sponsoring this game and that's a problem. But still, I do want to play Bethesda's newest IP game and from what I've seen so far, this game really has me intrigued. Anyhow, this is MS's biggest new IP release game they are putting since they bought Bethesda after all, and now, MS is ready to cash in their chips, will it pay off? We'll find out once the reviews are out. I'm gonna predict GS score and give it a 9/10 with MC 85-90. I'm going all in here as Bethesda has never rub me the wrong way and yes, Bethesda is known for its bugs in their games but let's be real, most developers aren't perfect these days. The good news is, most reviewers are saying they haven't encountered bugs is refreshing since Bethesda did delay Starfield and we'll see how that plays out when it releases.

I'm only going to give my predicted GS score as that is the only score that is relevant for the hype meta game here.

I think it will be an 8/10.

+ points will be

• It's Fallout in space.
• Interesting places to explore.
• Some good quests and storylines.
• The future, but not super sci fi far future, setting is a pretty fresh idea.

• Not exactly a technical tour de force (or at least doesn't look it) from MS yet only running at 30fps on Xbox.

That's my guess anyway.

I'm looking forward to it. I have it pre-installed on my Xbox. It took forever to install because it's such a huge game.

Most important game in our lifetime!

Seems positive buzz going on, so 9 from me.

There's one absolute certainty people can expect from this game.

Holding this up to a high standard. Bethesda's days of getting free passes is over.

That being said, I'm highly anticipating Starfield and want it to be excellent.

First time I saw that scene I was a kid. Scared the damn crap out of me.

For the hermits and my fellow cows that think that this game will be just another lazy release from Bethesda, you're wrong. This is their most important launch in over a decade. They're beginning a new IP that is supposed to last for many decades to come. You simply cannot release some Fallout 76 like dogwater and expect people to be excited for the sequels. They have their Elder Scrolls in the retro futuristic world, and now they will have Elder Scrolls in space😎

You will see as much effort put into this game as its currently possible by Bethesda.

Even if it get perfect 10 and become masterpiece. it will still get hate because "bathezda".

gamers outside of this board wont care and most will enjoy it. here it will get hate.

Firstly, it won't get a 10 because just like i predicted about Atomic Heart, the writing, characters, main story and side quests won't be that good, and some will even be bad. You buy this for an immersive exploration game. This will be its strength, and with a shitload of mods this is guaranteed to receive, the immersion will be great for sure.

Secondly, are you implying that people don't shit on Bethesda outside of SW? Ever since they tried to charge for mods, Bethesda is getting rolled all over the web, so no need to be pretending its only on SW that they're getting shit on.

Wow hardwenzen! I'm really surprised you aren't gonna go on a crusade and start thrashing Starfield. About time you say something nice around here.

I love Skyrim and I always wanted Skyrim in space, so it's why I want Starfield to be just that. The game did get a 1yr delay, so let's see if the delay has paid off. (I never played FO76 so I have no knowledge of what went wrong with 76)

I've been so looking forward to this game ever since it was announced and now it is less then 2 weeks away. I can't wait. Very few games I have looked forward to this much.

I have been defending this game since the very beginning. Only when they showed the 15 minutes gameplay, the one where Todd announced 1000+ planets as the selling point, only then was i disappointed by what was shown cuz it looks rough. The last showcase was more of what i was expecting this game to be.

@pclover1980: Polls on a hype thread isn't recommended and I don't trust the results.

I think this game will have slightly muted review scores, since earlier this month reviewers were gushing over the new high benchmark for RPGs, BG3.

Still, Bethesda knows how to throw around their advertising money, so I'm expecting a lot of 9s and 10s for this one.

Major blow imo, but I hope the music is as good, if not, better than Soule's stuff.

I think a lot of people will play Starfield as a space exploration type of game more than really just an RPG. I'm not sure they're directly competing despite the superficial genre overlap

I still have my doubts.

First, more of this and more of that doesn't guarantee good. Just like fetch quest filler in AC games is not good.

Second, this is the company that made fighting dragons boring as fcuk. That should have been amazing, not mundane.

Third, horse armor.

Fourth is the possibility of space exploration being mostly akin to landing the rover in the original Mass Effect...a whole lot of nothing.

I will go with 8 GS and 75 MC, but I hope it is a 10.

Not gonna lie, I am pretty damn hyped for this game, relatively speaking (me being the guy that doesn't really hype anything).

Problem is, I'm drowning in games right now...between the recent Update 8 of Satisfactory, me restarting a Dishonored 2 run, the recently released stealth real-time tactics Shadow Gambit, Baldur's Gate 3 (which I havent touched for like five days, man I need to get back to it!)...I just don't know if I will buy Starfield on release day.

Its not a job, you never "have" to beat anything. If you didn't beat Jedi Survivor by now, you most likely don't like it that much, so finishing it will be more of a job than a fun time.

Yeah I think I suffer from a cognitive dissonance of sorts. I will appreciate a good, quality game but when it comes to actually enjoying the game, maybe my subconscious brain is like "Look, you know this is a good game, but it's not really the one you want to play right now. Go back and spend another 100 hours building cities in Cities: Skylines" lol.

But my conscious brain is like "NO! There are so many good games people like! I MUST TRY THEM!" hahaha.

It's why I keep trying JRPG's even though I hate the genre for the most part, or soulsborne-type games.

And then I feel bad because I'm not playing these brilliant games I think I should like. Idunno maybe it's just undiagnosed ADHD or something.
