Not really. It being able to play used games and function offline would've been enough. However, the $399.99 price point is most certainly a nail in the coffin.

No one loves Sony for annoucing pay to play. Heck, I may not even get PS plus, unless they announce some sweet free game deals, like what they currently have: Xcom + Uncharted + Tekken. 

And I disagree with you completely on better exclusives, Infamous second son + Killzone Shadow fall are much more appealing to me than the announced xbox exclusives. 

At the end of the day, it's not just the price point that convinced me to go with the PS4, its the overall package:

$399 vs $499

Superior Hardware vs Inferior Hardware

Better exclusives (opinion)

No used games/connectivity/DRM complications vs Anti consumer policies

More innovative Controller

The price isn't a big deal, expect MS to match it fairly quick.

I'm still not sure they'll go through with the used game and other DRM thing. They've always had a match for match competition with Sony, so i'm not convinced they won't backtrack on that at some point. And publishers can't hold them to account, because they can just say 'you let Sony off'. They'll have to realise at some point they'll just be damaging themselves and it's not quite too late yet.

This debate has nothing to do with my (or any) smart phone as it's not a gaming console. I expect my smart phone to be connect to my carrier's network because that's what it needs in order to function. If the data on my phone suddenly goes out, I can still call and text and use it like a basic phone. Unlike the rest of the mindless drones in our modern society, I can function without my smart phone.

That said, Microsoft has no right telling it's consumers that they're required to connect to the internet in order to play a single player game.

You really don't see how bad that is for the gaming industry and I pity you.

I thought MS conference was far far superior to Sony's. The crowd was getting restless at Sonys just like at Microsofts but was worse with all the Lag and Lock ups. One guy comes on stage and says three or four things, 2 minutes later Sony is on top. Microsoft royally stuffed it by going against the consumer, but if were talking about who had the best entertaining conference, that was clearly Microsoft.

You dont need internet to play games,talk to people or use apps designed for offline use on smartphones...

You have to connect to the internet to play games like fallout and mirrors edge on xbone.
