Halo Infinite Looked Really Bad

That was devastating. The gunplay looked horrendous. Graphics were... rough... And it doesn't look like the open world is adding anything meaningful.

However, it didn't look like they actually had that much to show off, which is concerning, seeing that the game is coming out in four months.

What'd everybody think? I'm not trying to be a bummer, as I love Halo, but that was.... not encouraging.

I'm hoping the streaming quality is just really shitty because those visuals were not impressive at all.

Semi open world Halo is good idea but once again they manage to make game looks outdated for 2020 standard.

Got strong Ubisoft Cry vibes from that.

I think it looked good. but is it me that held back the texture work to get more raytracing involved? the texture work looked bland. looks last gen textures with high raytracing affect. you can see on the gun the most. like they used to much gpu for it. the cut scenes looks way better than while in gameplay.

but 60 fps is good though.

I thought it looked good, especially for stream quality. Feels like that old Halo.

It looked good on Twitch. The Youtube feed was laggy and bad resolution. I'm interested in seeing the MP as that is what I played mostly.

I think it looked good. Brought me vibes from Halo CE, which is just one of my favourite games of all time.

Looks like an Xbox One game...which it is.

Graphically atrocious. Gameplay looked okay, but i expected way more. TLOU2 destroys this thing graphically, animations wise and pretty much everything but fps/resolution. All these delays and it doesn't even look good.

Looks very dated and boring. It is being held back by old hardware to be fair.

Also to be fair, 343 should not be allowed to do their own thing so this is probably a good thing.

Overall, Destiny shits on it outside of its greedy practices and repetitive gameplay loop. If Destiny 3 fixes things, it takes the crown for me.

This does not mean that Halo Infinite is a live service game, a la Destiny. But it does mean that new story experiences will be told underneath Infinite’s umbrella, and it also means Infinite will be evolved technologically for quite a while. 343 confirmed that Infinite will get a free raytracing update sometime after launch. Gameplay-wise, hopefully the move to Infinite as a platform won’t mean that players are trapped on this Halo ring forever, but we’ll have to wait and see what 343 has in store for us in the Xbox Series X generation to find out.

I would drop Xbox One support and delay the game 12 months. Rework textures and animation, eliminate those corridors etc. The game is “open” like Apex is open. There are chokepoints everywhere because of engine/hardware limitations. The open aspect of the gameplay is being held back by 2013’s Xbox One. And that should be unacceptable when launching a game with the importance of Halo in a console launch year. What’s worse, forcing consumers to buy a new console to play the new Halo, or having the graphics and design of your new Halo look like that? In 2020, with these crazy 4K/8K TVs with HDR and everything, that’s what they’re selling?

The way I see it, 343 is using Bungie's nostalgic idea for this new Halo cause it did peak my interest even more because I'm a very long time Halo guy. That Thanos villain was dope, so its being more creative but hope 343 don't get sued by MCU. Overall, I wasn't expecting much but I'm still looking forward to Infinite on PC, and its coming to Game Pass, so I got nothing to lose.

Where are the advanced physics, hairworks, AI, etc that we were all told would be possible with the new Zen cores? Platinum Games were right, it is more of the same.

i think it looks fine. The guy face at the end does looks like its running xbone though. Nice of xbox to show what to expect running on low powered consoles.

That game looked Xbox One as hell, like I knew it would. And it's still not really close to finished from what it sounds like. Plus, the game is a platform. Meaning it's not getting a sequel, they're just gonna add crap to it and milk the Xbots that still care for their money for the next ten years. Xbox gaming gets its GaaS mask on.

What is there to be hyped about if it looks alright?

Nothing they showed hasn't been done a million times in other Halo games.

I mean, if you dislike the genre, of course you would take anything over survival kind of game. I would take anything over racing games too lol.

What if the guy at the end was running on XSX and this was as good as it gets?

The game looks like something that came out on current gen back in 2015.

Depends if you really like the series but I for one been a long time fan since the golden days of original Xbox with Halo CE. I understand its nothing mind blowing but I personally think it looks good. Its coming to Game Pass, what do you have to lose?

I say that because we have reach a level in graphics that is hard to say something really look bad,but it is obvious that the xbox one held back this game period,if this game was only on Series X it would look much better.

I've been a fan of the series since the OG game and 343 were doing well at first with Reach(though Armor Lock and some of the maps were bullshit). But this? Halo cannot afford to merely look "alright". XBox fans have been clamoring for top-tier quality and this didn't look like it. It's the flagship franchise, come on man.

Graphically, it wasn't that impressive (that said, it looks a lot better watching a 4K version not in stream quality). For all that Series X power people are yelling about, I was expecting a lot more.

And the texture pop-in when you're driving is Switch-level bad. Grass textures were rendering like 8 feet in front of the Warthog, which just shouldn't be a thing at this point.

Guns looked like they had almost no weight to them, which extends to the grappling hook. Looks very floaty.

Still keeping an open mind. I want the game to be good.

Also, it's pseudo open-world. Hope they're able to reward exploration in meaningful ways.

I agree. From that perspective, it's everything fans wanted (well, not so sure about the pseudo-open world, but you get my point).

They did that will Halo 4 and 5, but that didn't work. Well, at least for me.

It is 4k 60fps with raytracing though. Its basically a xboxone series x game and the sex will make it look very crisp. The materials are showing there age but 4k and 60fps open world.

It actually pisses me off. It looks like a damn mobile game. What were they thinking?

I don't remember have an annoying pilot sidekick and some ugly crappy villain in the first game.

@IMAHAPYHIPPO: I see. That screenshot is very concerning; barely looks like an xbox one x optimized game even. Maybe things will improve, but it's quite close to launch. Saw a quick clip and it looks like Halo. Gotta see more.

Hopefully the guns can be tweaked as well.

The sound was really good.

I noticed texture pop-in at one point, that was surprising. Also, it was interesting that it would be 60fps but did not mention that it would be 4k.
