Last year was not a good year for system launches. Two new systems released last year, the Playstation Vita, and the Wii U. For various reasons, a lot of them quite similar, both systems have failed on the market so far.

However, I had this question, based on this viciousness that so many people in this board seem to express for both these systems... But do you want either the Playstation Vita to fail outright? Essentially, do you want them to die? If so, why?

My answer is clear. At the risk of sounding cliche, I don't want either to die. I think that we need both on the market for various reasons- competition, for the unique games each can provide, and because why would I want them to die at all?

What about you, though? And why?

I don't care much if Vita sinks... Sony doesn't even seem to care about it.

I really want the Wii U to find some success so that Nintendo continues to be driven to make their top quality 1st party games on an HD console.

I don't want either to die. I just wish they would release some good games that make me want to buy both systems.

I want them both to succeed, particularly the Wii U. The Vita made a huge mistake with the proprietary memory, but the price of the system is amazing for the specs, and I think it would do very well, if Sony would just support it with games that aren't on the PS3. I really want the Wii U to succeed because I really want touch screen controllers to become the standard on consoles. A complete failure would all but guarantee that this would never happen, and that's just sad because it is an obvious evolution in standard gaming that serves to improve gameplay, especially at the local multiplayer level.

Most people just want a product that they endorse to be better than the rest. I don't know of anyone to want another system to "die."
If they do then they need to evaluate their priorities.

But if I had to choose one to die I would have to say the wii u. With handhelds getting more powerful and given the fact that Nintendo handhelds have a better success rate than the Nintendo consoles, the franchises we know and love will continue to live on. The ps vita needs to be alive to keep Nintendo from getting lazy with their handhelds.

none. personally, i understand why people wants systems to die. the more systems there are, the more games and innovations company's can create/utilize for that specific hardware

I really don't care about the vita, it could die off and it wouldn't affect me. As for the Wii U I hope it does well.

even if i personally don't care about something i want it to do well and for its fans to get great games to play.

all that does is help the industry in the long run.

People here lie char, u know this. They're going to vote overwhelmingly neither. Like a while back, all the anti gamestop threads. Asking who here buys used games, and devs deserve to get paid, blah, blah. Then used games get a smack, and everyone is up in arms this year. You won't get truth here, its the internet. Everyone is tough, they all do the morally correct thing, and none are greedy.

WiiU = no. Partly because I own one, partly because Nintendo failing would be bad in general, I like having a console that's a bit different and does more than just play the exact same stuff I can already get on PC. Vita = don't care. Yeah I really couldn't care less, I don't think anything would change if it did die apart from Sony looking incompetent. Nintendo were doing just fine in the handheld market before Sony showed up and I really don't feel as though Sony's presence changed Nintendo in any way, they didn't really monopolise the handheld industry beforehand and Sony showing up made them change their ways or something, they operate the same way they always have.

NO, because I'm not a neckbeard. Ideally I'd want all systems to have some extent of success to further increase the amount of games I could choose from plus keeping some competition in the industry.

I'd love for the Vita's situation to improve as it does seem like a very nice handheld from its design and hardware, and get it for games like Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice, P4G, FFX/X-2 HD remasters, and a bunch of indie titles. I don't want the Wii U to die when there are some great-looking games coming out for it later.

Not Vita, that's for sure. I payed for this damn thing, so you better feed me with games Sony. Wii U can die if it wants. I don't have a Wii U, so I don't care.

No, but I want both companies to take a good look at themselves and learn how to fix what they're doing wrong before they can repeat the cycle with their next system.

Hmm...  Maybe the PS Vita has potential to be something..  I doubt it.  It needs more exclusive titles like always.   The Wii U on the other hand,  I'm sorry but it's a failure.   Nintendo should decrease it's life span to about 4-5 years then think of something that can actually serve to challenge PS4 and XBOX ONE.

absolutely not. the vita is a fantastic machine to play games on. the one major mistake sony made was no internal memory (or no memory card boxed as standard). so its 250 + the cost of a memory card which aint cheap. its a fabulous gaming device. as something to play games on it mops the floor with any other mobile device to play games on. no phone, tablet, or the 3DS is as good to play games on as the vita. its not just the power: its really comfy to use, the back panel is a great idea, the sticks work a treat and it just has lots of nice little touches that make it a great handheld to use. i just wish it was the nintendo vita not the playstation vita at the moment. i dont have a wiiu yet but i will get one. i have to play project X. by the time i do get one i will also have games like pikmin 3 and the wonderful 101 to catch up on so by then itll be stronger hopefully.

I don't want either of those systems to fail, they both have tons of potential.

It would be nice if Nintendo's first party games slumped in sales ( they won't) because I want some new series (perferably ones with more plot and investment in characters).

I want neither to fail, but I have a funny feeling that the Playstation vita will be discontinued in the next couple of years if the install base does not grow that much.
