DF - Dead Island Definitive Edition PC vs PS4

I feel physically sick seeing 30fps and 60fps running side by side.

And a little off topic, but not really, DF has the best graphics comparisons I've seen. It's really easy to tell the differences with the way they set it up.

@howmakewood: me too, when i play witcher 3 in my laptop (obviously not as powerfull as my desktop) I need to play at 720p to maintain 60fps.

Leaving it at 1080p gives me frames around 40-45.

Id prefer 720p all day if it means stable 60fps

The Xbone version is so inferior that they didn't even bothered including it into the comparison?

I've never seen 30fps look that choppy.

If you notice, some parts of the video look smoother for the PS4 version. It's probably that the PS4 version isn't even hitting 30 fps in some of those areas.

Don't really care about framerate, but really what is the point of this "definitive edition" if it isn't even on par with what mid-tier PCs can run it at?

You can't honestly expect ps4 to deliver the same performance as 970(if that is what you consider mid-tier?)

Don't need a 970 for 60fps though...

Has framerate issues, but nothing bad.

This is a great video to show the 60vs30fps. After watching this, no way in hell can some1 say that they don't see the difference between the two.

There's no way in hell that left video is running in 30fps. It looks like a slide show. This looks like sub 20 fps more like. A last gen game should easily be able to run at 40-60fps on PS4. Heck even Doom is running 1080p and 60FPS on PS4. This video has been purposely slowed down or this is an extremely poorly optimised port.

Edit: Ah, just looked in the comments section, the video is running at half speed for whatever reason (Probably to make the PC version look better). Sorry herms, that is not what 30FPS looks like. No points for you.

Because most of the video is in slow motion to overexaggerate the difference. Seems to be pretty ridiculous. Unless you somehow play the whole game in slow motion. At about 3:10 there's finally some footage in real time. PC version is of course smoother and better looking but nowhere near what the rest of the video wants to make you believe.

Have fun playing that on PS4 console drones. Looks so bad.

I been playing Dead Island: Definitive Edition on PS4 over a week now, I haven't run into any problems as of yet but this version is a hell lot better then it was last-gen. Playing co-ops with my friends is still fun and killing Zombies is just as fun as it was for last-gen.

Also to point out this, Dying Light isn't 60fps, so why do you expect Dead Island: Definitive Edition to be any different? And before you can say its because its a last-gen game, keep in mind that they updated the graphics and engine using the Dying Light engine and implemented many of its graphical upgrades to Dead Island. And if 60fps is so important to you or anyone, then get it on PC and play on that. This remaster and even the original game is capable of 60fps on PC.

If you bought it on current-gen consoles hoping to play games at 60fps, then you made a huge error in your judgement.

I'm fairly certain that it's not in slow motion. Why would DF intentionally do something like that when they are shooting for maximum credibility?

A more accurate representation of 30 FPS Dead Island Remaster, OP video was just pure unadulterated herm bullshit. It's quite funny and confusing as to why some herms will go as far as to lie to claim dominance over consoles. I guess they have to justify paying that over £400 on a graphics card that they will no doubt have to replace in a year. Any way, going to play Doom at 60fps / 1080p on PS4 now, see ya.

and what does that say about the xb1 version? it sucks even worse than the PS4 version it wasn't even mentioned in the comparison.

Don't know what the hell was going on with TC's vid, but yeah I've never seen 30fps look like that before. Something was seriously wrong there.

Consoles can't keep up which is the norm...no Xbone version again.

Poor Xbone keeps getting left out of comparisons (another headline starring PC and PS4), it and the fans are going to develop a complex that the Xbone is irrelevant.

First off, it's not my video. That is a Digital Foundry video. Second, DF slowed down the video to show differences in motion blur, assets and textures. Third, did I ever claim dominance or call out consoles? All I said was that seeing the 2 running side by side at those framerates made me physically sick. Anything else you two pulled from my comments is your own doing.

The console kid inferiority complex is alive and well.

Lod distance, shadows and IQ are all better on PC.
