What difference does it make who the source is? PC already has gpu's that are double the power of the PS 4's and the PS 4's cpu may be an octo core but its only a 1.6ghz while pc has 4ghz octo cores. The 360 was much more impressive for 2005 than he PS 4 is for now. This is coming from the developer of Crysis....

The main reason Sony went with 8gb gddr5 was to compensate for the mid tier gpu and low end cpu. They needed some kind of hook. Surely they would have rather had a better gpu and or cpu but couldnt due to size, power and heat issues. 4 gb with a 7970 and a 3 ghz cpu would have been so much better.

better but to costly
7970 would need a big space to cool, or it will end up like xbox 360 red rings of death. So what the console would end up getting is the laptop version of the 7970, which is significantly weaker.
For the 3 ghz cpu, they also face that same problem, HEAting issues. Closed/small box'es will always have to rely on MASS cores instead of raw frequency due to the heat it produces, unlike pc's we can stick a big heat sink in there.
Ps4 is doing the best it could in regards to price and specs.
Ill probably pick up one, if there is anything i see worth getting, But i sticking to my gaming PC. I spend 95% of my gaming time on pc compared to my collecting dust ps3.

Well, some hermits genuinely believe Crysis 1 to have more realistic lighting than C3... (altho C3 looks better on low detail than C1 on very high)
edit: Crysis was also already dethroned by Metro 2033 in 2010, despite the delusion regarding it's "graphical supermacy".

Title is a bit misleading he actually says "beyond the PC generation". - This is likely referring to technical specification and console manufacturers keeping it similar ( yet no more advanced ) to the PC, instead of bringing some wierd and new ball ache architecture like sony did with the CELL. Which is good news for everyone.
If 360 & PS3 had more ram, less games would have been dumbed down
Epic got Microsoft to put in 512mb, should have got them to put in 2gigs

Crysis 1 with mods is about on par if not better than Crysis 3, for Crysis 3 coming out 6 years later, it should be a night & day difference
Crysis 3 was held back by consoles, you can tell, look at the draw distance & mountains in the background in Crysis 1, incredible isn't it? well in Crysis 3 most backgrounds are either 2D or very low quaility buildings

New generations are defined by next gen consoles because that is when most we've try to push technology.

What a coincidence. I was just thinking the very same thing. I think even just a gig would've made a big difference if they stuck with 720p.

No, JEDEC has released a new common standard SODIMM for GDDR5M and DDR4 i.e. GDDR5 for system memory is part PCs' road map.
Sony is doing it cheap by leavaging PC's Q4 2013 road map.

Crysis 3 still looks beautiful at Medium Settings, I don't know why you think there's a MONSTROUS or ENORMOUS difference between Very High and Medium, That means Today's PCs can handle Crysis 3's awesomeness.,This gen will be different.[QUOTE="faizan_faizan"][QUOTE="lostrib"]
that is wonderful news
StrongBlackVine
Not really. PC games will still sell millions less on multiplats. PS4 and Xbox will still be the lead platforms most of the times. Games will stop be unoptimized for PC...
like Battlefield, Metro 2033, Portal and every Valve game did ?cryengine 2 is a hybrid of forward and deferred rendering cryengine 3 is all deferred it can handle more lightsources with using less resources but not as accurate with the lighting as forward rendering.
crysis remastered on console uses the cryengine 3 lol doesnt use the original cryengine 2 lol consoles couldnt handle the forward rendering lighting model.
Crytek was also the first to implement this technique in a game (Crysis 2007) However, GG revealed KZ2 will also use deferred rendering but it took too long to release and we saw other games use this instead.cryengine 2 is a hybrid of forward and deferred rendering cryengine 3 is all deferred it can handle more lightsources with using less resources but not as accurate with the lighting as forward rendering.

The level design and game play is still limited by the consoles with Crysis 2 & 3.What's funny is their games sell more on Consoles then on anything else; And here they are bashing Consoles. Ironic.
Oh, and, for the record, you can do more with Console hardware over time than PC hardware; Partly due to optimization eases on Consoles. PC optimization is terrible.

Actually if you people read my post and not only what serve most of you best,i already quoted that from Crytek and actually agree the PS4 is not as strong the best PC out there and that is not my argument here. My argument is about the PS4 holding well for several years, because is a well balance machine that is build for efficiency rather than brute force. Now most PC out there are under power vs the PS4 and that is fact that steam confirm.tormentos will just love that. I've seen him quote Crytek, quite a bit.

I always love how people go on and on about how poorly games are optomized on PC; never mind that just about every game I've played in recent memory has had my GPU working at 100% and using at least four cores of my CPU (I will admit that most don't use all six, with the exception of BF3 and Crysis 3).
