Yeah, the 3DS doesn't have a lot of for me this year, especially compared to the Vita. I'm not sure what else Nintendo can realistically announce considering they really blew their load last year, but I'd be happy with a new Advance Wars.

What Nintendo can announce: A LOT

What Nintendo is willing to announce: Very little.

It's mainly 3rd Parties. Nintendo has pretty much done their generational releases already (Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Mario Kart along side a few other Mario games and Smash Bros is incoming). People severely underestimate how important they are to having a huge library. They have been pretty low key with the 3DS this year which is surprising. Vita has been getting announcements bi weekly for the past few months. I guess developers are trying to support both platforms.

Last year was the same way, a lot of big games released in 2013 weren't revealed until 2013.

2013 was a whole different beast. we might not see a year like that again.

We will probably see a pretty good 2015 for the 3DS. Nintendo kind of seems to be alternating between the 3DS and Wii U.

Yeah, but besides Bayonetta, Sonic Boom and Mario Kart 8, what else is getting released for the Wii U this year?

DKC: Tropical Freeze and Smash. X is supposedly a 2014 title, but I'm not getting my hopes up for a game that doesn't even have a name yet getting released this year.

@PurpleMan5000: X has never been touted as a 2014 title. That's just general speculation. If anything it's going to be a 2015 summer or fall title.

Well DKC got released, and my hopes on Smash are becoming less.

My word: If we don't get a release date by E3, it's not coming this year.

Vita definitely going to win 2014.

Well, they could announce a lot, but I wouldn't expect many releases for 2014. It's like Flames said, Nintendo already launched many of their franchises on the 3DS and many of them came out recently. Like, I wouldn't expect a new 3DS Zelda this year since ALBW just came out. A port/remake, maybe.

X is actually listed as a 2014 title worldwide in Nintendo's latest fiscal report. Whether or not they'll actually make it is one thing, but they are targeting this year.

3DS this year looks alright compared to the last. Here's what you're in for this year:

Potential announcements?

Persona Q, SSB, Mario Golf, and Kirby are good enough for me. Not 2013 level, but still pretty hot.

Which titles will make that happen?

I know FE Awakening, LoZ A Link Between Worlds, X/Y, AC New Leaf, and Luigi's Mansion DM made the 3DS win 2013…

I would love to see that come out this year.

3DS needs more good games to come anywhere near the Vita in 2013.

So, when should we expect the next handheld from Nintendo to be announced? E3 '15 unveil and a 2016 release would match DS > 3DS 5 year lifecycle or E3 '14 unveil and 2015 release. Which would would be inline with GBA>DS (4 years).

@FlamesOfGrey: [...] Super Robot Wars of Legend of Heroes games here ever (and Sen no Kiseki was kinda.....myeh and repetitive) and Project Diva 2nd may come depending on the sales of the Vita version (the PS3 version probably had good sales in order to even consider the Vita version getting a release).

You know I'm glad I'm not the only one who played it and thought that. The Falcom Defense Force were out in such a strong display of solidarity that I started to question my sanity at one point.

Hopefully some more games will be localized in addition to any that are announced later in the year. We did not find out SMTIV was being localized (in NA) until around April or May of last year if I recall correctly. Perhaps Majora's Mask 3D will be announced out of the blue as well.

Hopefully this means Nintendo is shifting a lot of focus towards WiiU. But I'm guessing probably not. If nintendo has taught anything these last few years its that there is zero reason for its fans to be optimistic about anything ever.

#73 Posted by Mario1331 (8826 posts) -

they need to focus on WiiU. as far as the superior handheld goes this gen 3DS pretty much has it in the palm of its hand. Pretty sure they have 3DS game announcements coming for this year
