My January pick ups:

GBA: Harry Potter and the Scorcerer's Stone and Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (back when EA had both licenses)

Wii: Punch Out and Toy Story 3, both at a thrift shop for $1.50 a piece

GameCube: The Sims 2 and Need for Speed Underground (which I also own for PS2), both at $5 a piece at the same thrift shop.

BONUS: My completed Sims collection on the GameCube (plus two versions of Urbz on the same platform, just different region codes).

Yeah, classic EA ruled my purchases this month...

Yup... loved the first two games and the spinoffs growing up. Don't really care to play 3 (PC version at least, I have the DS version) and onward though... looking to pick up the GBA version of Urbz (have the DS version) one of these days.

Thanks! It's a part of Sims that was a part of my childhood especially as I remember my mom and dad would play the PS2 versions of Bustin Out and... well The Sims. We were impressed how the graphics were an improvement over the original PC game (which looked like high-res N64 and PSOne by comparison), then 2 came out... lol

Recent events may have slowed things down, but here's two recent additions:

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (Wii)

Darksiders Genesis (Switch)

BONUS: Updated collections of BOTH franchises, owning all of the Sands of Time quadrilogy on Nintendo consoles, with all Darksiders games on Nintendo consoles (wouldn't mind getting the Switch version of the first game though).

@nintendoboy16: Wii version of Forgotten Sands is surprisingly good.

Anyway, my most recent pickups are Skate 2, Driver: San Francisco, Need for Speed Nitro, and Okami (wii). So far have mostly played Nitro, and it might be the best "Rush" game ever.

The N64 version may load faster due to being a cartridge console, but the Dreamcast version has more content. I feel like this game was Midway's answer to Punch Out.

@davillain-: Wasn't that only with the second game? I've read that game one had exclusive boxers for each console. I Don't deny the Dreamcast version is probably better, but still...

Update - tax return edition

007: TWINE (PSONE) - Not the best version (belongs to the N64 version), but at $3? What the hell.

Midnight Club (PS2)

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 (GameCube)

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions (Wii) - Again, I know it's not the best version, but from what I understand, it's the only Spider-Man game on the Wii with the most effort put into it, being a decent game on it still (and being one of the best Activision published Spider-Man games alongside Spider-Man 2, and inspiring Into the SpiderVerse).

Bonus: Completed Tony Hawk collection for GameCube.

And before the month ends:

Crash Bandicoot 4 (Switch)

Doom 64 (Switch; Limited Run Games)

Saints Row IV (Switch)

Need for Speed: Carbon (PS2)

Tetrisphere (N64)

Duke Nukem 64 (N64) - Yeah, yeah. Not the best version, and to some, it's the inferior one for it's censorship (even though the SEGA Saturn and PSOne both have worse technical flaws than the 64 version). But I bought it for curiosity's sake, because somethings about it I do like, such as new weapons (like Duke can hold Dual SMG's and unleash his inner John Woo, like Lo Wang would with Uzi's) and they had pretty clever ways of censoring that almost feels like commentary (Red Light District becoming Gun Crazy, as that stage has some of it's more provocative gifs in the backroom of the adult book/gun store never removed, but slightly changed of their context). Plus, I also like the idea of saving the women, rather than putting them out of their misery.

Besides, Nintendo would get Duke uncensored eventually (World Tour on Switch).

New pick ups this month:

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid (Switch)

Scott Pilgrim vs the World (Switch; Limited Run)

Shantae Classic (Switch; Limited Run)

Shantae: Risky's Revenge (Switch; Limited Run)

Quake II (N64) - Yes, I have the PC version too, BUT, this one is unique with it's map design, I've heard.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider (XBOX ONE)

Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy (XBOX Classic) - Across all the platforms, I have it digitally as well, but it's only the Switch and XBOX versions I have it physically as well.

Recently picked up a beautiful 3DO FZ-1 complete in box along with a bunch of CiB games -- Gex and Myst being the standouts. The whole thing was less than a naked US system typically goes for on ebay. Love how absolutely bonkers the system and its content is.

I just had to pick it up after watching Victor Lucas of EP play it on a stream. Looked like a fun arcade soccer title. Kinda wish SEGA had another shot at something similar, even if they have to put their mascots (Sonic, Kiryu, etc).

I scored a copy of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on eBay for my Sega Genesis collection. The fatality timing is just as narrow and punishing as MK3. 😵‍💫

But my MK 16-bit collection is complete now!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for GBC is my first physical retro pickup in a long time. Since prices spiked during COVID times, I stopped looking. Plus, I've mostly been buying old games digitally on PC.

Went for this though because the price was decent, and it's something my kids could play on road trips (long as the old GBA keeps kicking). Back in the day, I never gave the GBC version a second thought, but internet consensus says it is secretly one of the best Harry Potter games ever made. So far I have to agree. Plays like an old-school Final Fantasy.
