this is ridiculous. this better be some sort of huge update thats gonna clear up all the server issues. only thing to really do it wait. im on probation and all i have to do is play MW2 lol. cant wait for GOW3 though!

As for the error, I have just received it.. I was playin Zombie Apocolypse like an hour ago. I jumped into the shower and now that error appeared with my time changed to 6 43, when it's 9 38 where I live. WTF
I dont know whats happening but it seems I cant get on PSN AND my system just keeps reading and loading the disc like it wont boot the **** up! GOD why me!??
I don't understand how this could have happened to my console. It hasn't been connected to PSN in over five days, yet I get the same error. What the hell? Its like all the Phats in world are failing at the same time.

Yeah same here, I haven't been on the PSN for about a week now, but I tried Tekken 6 to see just what would happen and all my trophies for it disappeared, hopefully they'll come back O_O
Ok, this is kinda wierd. I have 2 systems one's an 80 and one's a 60. The 60 is working fine, but my 80 isn't. To boot, I was finishing up my trophies on Star Wars the force unleashed, and no they're all gone!!!! WTF?!?!?! I can see why people are PO'd!! I mean if they are doing some server maintence then why not shoot out an email to us all???
My PS3 isn't even hooked up with an internet connection...so i think its whatever Heavy Rain brought with it is why it won't load the trophies on my PS3, i have a 60gig...and this just happened with Heavy Rain only...how the hell am i gonna get this fix with this glitch on this game without an internet connection

try us.playstation.com ... it won't open... the Dec 31, 1999 reported by some people.. being denied to play games offline... this is WAY worse than just not connecting to PSN

yeah right all this talk of selling your PS3 is just bull c mon keep it together and if you really are going to sell it what was the point of getting it in the first place...up until now this has never happened and the only problem the ps3 has ever had was YLOD which only a minor amount of people have had and it was mainly 60 GB PS3s to begin with

I think people have a right to complain if this isn't solved within 24 hours. It shouldn't have happened, but do you really expect all of your electronics to work perfectly all the time? Unless you've had numerous problems with your ps3 and/or Sony about fixing it, there's no reason to complain right now. As far as I know, it started 2-3 hours ago, and that was only for some people. Others just started to get the problem within the past hour. When I got it, I had no idea what happened, as I was only on home, and I was about to turn my PS3 off anyway.
To those of you trying to contact Sony.. just give up. This is a global issue and no doubt there are over a million PS3s (yes I know there are more than that) that are affected. Think Sony can handle over a million people calling them all at the same time? Also, web servers usually can't handle several million people all trying to access them at the same time...
if im trying to play a game and my playstation is telling me error, i will put in another disk and try that....if that game in turn also fails to work.....it means sony is stopping me....or preventing me from playing games
Well think of this error as like u were running laps. the ps3 was all geared up for the leap year correct? so my example is wat if u were running around on a track. U stay in the same lane same pace everything. Now wat would happen if u saw a hurdle in your way. U would jump over it and keep going doing the same thing for a while till the hurdle was no big deal. Now what if that hurdle was taken away? u would slow down every so often looking for it or completely stop clueless of where it went. Ps3 may be the prototype to the supercomputer but its still a primitive piece of technology that is used to repition.SbRacer10

Let me educate you my friend. This has actually happened twice before around this same time of year. The only reason I'm really pissed off now is that all of Sony seems to be crashing! Their holiday bungles were annoying but at least you could still play your games offline. Not being able to play a game at all is hilariously embarassing for Sony.
at about 8pm est. i tried to log on to MGS4 MGO and it gave the error, still cant find anything on it, i called PSN CC and they just gave me a line of bull sh!t, i know this cause i used to work for an ISP in a call center and i used to teach ppl how to sling bullsh!t on the phone. they either have no idea whats going on, (and it will be fixed in acouple of days, and you might have to call in to get info) or all PS3 systems with now "illegal" software, have been denied access. most likeley cause is they don't want you to have the ability to load other OS's such as a backside OS to soft mod your PS3, basicaly it will give you an unfair advantage in a new online game comming soon.(Final Fantasy XIII) all i know is if you don't want to lose those abilities, never send it in to get worked on (they will lie to you, in a way thats not legally lieing) and i swear if it was just for unit sales of the new slimline model (for new income) i will never buy another sony product again, and instead dedicate myself to pirating there software and replicating there hardware, to hack there income.... waits........... :(

Cause the red rings of death is totally not even a big deal amirite? My friend is on their 9th xbox and I have another friend who said that they have random maintenance which would be equally as annoying =P I don't like the Xbox games so I wouldn't bother tbh.
This error has JUST happened to me, litterally 10 minutes ago. The console was fine all morning, turned it off at about 11am. turned it back on at 1:15pm and bam, error code, AND the date was set to 1/1/2000. Instead of 1/3/2010. And my tropihies has gone for the only game i tried to load.
My major concern is if they (sony) issue a fix for this, it'll be accross the network right? The error stops you from singing into the network. How exactly will we get the fix?

I was thinking that exact thing a while ago, i mean if i cannot connect, since after a second it gives me the error, how the hell will it be fixed? unless it has to do with the servers... i am confused right now..
I wasnt online or even plugged in I went to play saints row 2 and it said my DLC is missing,I cant play wolfenstein either but my heavy rain demo played. I have an 80gb and i havent been online in a week.
Mine is working just fine, i have the newest 250gb model though. Im assuming its only affecting the launch models?

I suggest that you don't use it until this is fixed, just incase. I didn't check, but I noticed my PS3's time changed right before I turned it off, and I was also getting the error on Home. This all happened on my 120GB Slim. I wasn't aware of the issue at the time.
