My story:

I own 14 PS3 games 9 of those are Exclusives, dont have any racing game (execpt for wipeout hd) played the nfs hot pursuit demo awhile back thought it was a good game, was going to buy it but then heard that gt5 was finally coming out and this time for sure, ended up pre ordering it.

Got the game today expecting it to be the best racing game ever (6 years in the making, huge budget) and it was also a ps3 exclusive so i was extremely sure i was not going to be dissapointed.

4 Hours into it and i honestly dont see where all the time polishing the game went to ... most of the tracks are unispiring and just bland/ugly the Premium cars were not breath taking either , the gaming modes were ok (altho the spect-b mode is a joke) the music is nice but what was suppose to make this game better than the others failed to deliver.

I m really dissapointed, shouldve spend my money on something else.

How do you guys feel about it?

*edit*=

I take it back: after some days with it i came to enjoy it.. sure some cars and tracks look bad for a game that has been in the making for so long, but once you get the hand of it, it is actually fun to play, and there is lots of things to do :)

Maybe the time they took for it wasnt just developing, but resolving internal disputes or something, or disagreements in regards to direction in some aspect of the game, u know, some DUKE NUKEM forever type stuff. I have NFS Hot Pursuit, I prefer arcade racers than bumper car looking GT5. I think this isnt the biggest disappointed of the year, a game that kicks you out of EVERY SINGLE match is for me, and thats Black Ops. So yeah, naturally GT5 is tolerable for me lol

Just wanted to add that GoW 3 also had a TON of hype surrounding it, and it delivered imo. To each his own TC, i will post back soon.

Even though GT is a MASSIVE powerhouse of a franchise it still has and never will be for everyone. It's for car enthusiast and in that sense it doesn't disappoint.

It was in development for so long and suffered so many delays and it's worse than the new NFS. I'll probably rent it eventually though.

So I am just a bit into the game, and so far I like what I have seen. The one thing that is driving me absolutely crazy is the ridiculous loading times. Yes I did the optional install, and I know the first time some things load it also takes time to install things. The worst loading for me is actually between menus at my home screen. If I shop for a car, or tune my car and then press back to get to the main menu, it takes forever. I actually clocked it at around 120 seconds which is a full 2 minutes. That is reiculous. The loading before a race however is fine. Anyways I hope some patches resolve this. What I do is when the loading screen comes I take a piss or get a drink or something, when I get back it's usually still there. Gameplay wise it's pretty much gran tourism the way I remember it, which is a good thing.

Yea, I have to add that in other news Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegaswas a huge disapointment I thought it was like Time Splitters. Man its boaring, you have to take cover and move slowly, not at all a run and gun. They should have given it a lower score.

I like it and all, but it just doesn't feel right without a driving wheel and I didn't expect my copy to arrive today so I was unprepared for it. Just order a Driving Force GT off of Amazon for $89 so I've got at least another week until I can really play it.

You honestly expected to be impressed with a game that was hyped for 5 years? I mean you're talking about exclusives and stuff so I assume you viewed every screenshot of the game, watched every video, basically spoiled yourself silly... Part of the blame lies with the publishers but also who buy into this 1000 cars crap. Try to play games like you did when you were a kid and you'll be a lot less disappointed.

So you're saying the two top reviewed most popular racing games for 360 and Ps3 suck and this game that everyone thinks is overhyped crap is good. and something about Test Drive whatever I stopped reading when it became clear you only quoted me to boost your post count and troll.

Extremely disappointing. This is not opinion, this is a fact. I expected more, not casualized BS. This game is catered to the following individuals: -Those who don't know how to drive on a circuit track. -Those who learned about cars through video games (thus know very, very little). -Those who favor imports. If you are an American muscle fan, stay away from this game - far, far away. Everything you need to make muscle better in unaccesible in the game. Can't change the rear posi, can't shorten driveshaft &, no TH400, stuck at 4BBL, can't even change the CFM rating, can't change header type, can't swap camshafts... I could go on forever. Basically, this is not catered to car enthusiats and getting things right. You just upgrade-upgrade-upgrade. No mix & match for the best mix. It is catered to car neophytes. They may know how to develop a video game, but PD certainly does not know how to develop a car.

I played it for several hours last night and, yeah...pretty disappointing. It's a very good game, but feels a half-generation behind other driving sim's I've played on the PS3. I'm sure I'll be playing and enjoying it for a very long time though as there seems to be a ton of stuff to do and it is, after all, "very good". I didn't believe any of the hype, and it still falls well short of what I'd expect after waiting over 5 years.

Hard to compare it to NFS, as NFS is a pure arcade racer. Simulation and Arcade attract two totally different crowds. I'm a Simulation fan myself, as I like to drive the car like I'm really in it.

I'm also disappointed with GT5. Considering the wait I think the game is a let down. I've been playing the GT series since the first one, it was the first game I bought for PS and I've been a fan since then. I was expected a lot more from a game that took so long to release. I don't understand why they couldn't make the used cars look just as good as new cars. The anti aliasing and shadows are horrible on cars. The sound track blows. The level system needs to be thrown into the garbage. Also why can't you get rid of half the crap thats on the screen when your racing (throttle meter, g meter, etc). The menu/layout is a bit strange...when I press O to exit I don't want to have to hit X to go back home, why make 2 steps for something as simple as exiting a menu. They could have also worked on optimizing some of the tracks for slow downs. There are a few tracks were the frame rates drop and the game slows down quite a bit - very annoying. The weather effects are nothing special. AI could be a lot better. List goes on...

Yes I might be nit picking here but that is be expected with a game that took so long to release and with all the hype surrounding it and how "perfect" it was going to be.

Only thing I'm looking forward is online play.

if you love the GT series you're gonna love this...i wasnt always into GT either but the psp version really had me hooked for a while, and im a little older now too.. its a great series if you wanna get down tosome actualracing without too much crap like crashing or the usual arcade racing stuff..but i guess its a series that takes a while to get used to if you're not already..im not a big racing fan either or a big lover of cars in general, but i love this series..you can just feel the developers love for cars and everything around it in every little detail..

graphically the cars look really great, the backgrounds are still a little sterile but you don't really focus on that when you're driving at around 300kms an hour..the focus in GT has always been the actual racing, how each car has his own physics and totally feels different is just amazing, so technically its awesome too..

sure this game isnt perfect, no game is..and for some it might even be a dissapointment, but its still a brilliant game..learn to appreciate it, give it some time..i used to think it was pretty boring too compared to other racegames like burnout or whatever, but its so much more authentic and real, and its just great to try out all kinds of cars and how they feel..
