Yeah im dissapointed aswell, i was expecting this game to look like uncharted , its looks like 2nd gen grafics..I mean the overall game is "good" but there is alot of improvement still needed to be looked over...The one thing that keeps biting me in the ass is the damage , i know suppose once you level up its "gets" better but thats bs, thats somthing that hould have been in the game allready from jump, you dont buy a simulator game if u cant drive cars..Also the crowd is horrible, texture sucks, stand still tress, i could go on...Also the fence , if u hit it you just bump off lol, no tire tracks in the rally event on the floor..i mean instead of putting 1000 worthless cars in the game they should have put 500 cars people will actually drive and focusd on the game core more...This game should have blown me away and i think everyone agress with me, and i mean blown away to the point where these consols came and everyone was in shock on how the grafics looked...If u can compare forza 3 to this game GT5 was a let down..No excuse this game should have been alot better..i persoanlly give the game a 8

[QUOTE="BBC454"]Extremely disappointing. This is not opinion, this is a fact. I expected more, not casualized BS. This game is catered to the following individuals: -Those who don't know how to drive on a circuit track. -Those who learned about cars through video games (thus know very, very little). -Those who favor imports. If you are an American muscle fan, stay away from this game - far, far away. Everything you need to make muscle better in unaccesible in the game. Can't change the rear posi, can't shorten driveshaft &, no TH400, stuck at 4BBL, can't even change the CFM rating, can't change header type, can't swap camshafts... I could go on forever. Basically, this is not catered to car enthusiats and getting things right. You just upgrade-upgrade-upgrade. No mix & match for the best mix. It is catered to car neophytes. They may know how to develop a video game, but PD certainly does not know how to develop a car.emitsu97
GT5 is a racing sim, not a tuning sim. There is a difference.

I want a racing sim. A sim where I can build my car with what I want to build it with. Something, to you know, simulate real life.

Considering the development time and (mega)hype, it may be a bit of a dissapointment. But it's still the best console racer this gen.

Agreed with this. Also, I can see why Polyphony constantly goes with the 'Real Driving Simulator' moniker, because it's not inaccurate. The game is not a racing sim, it's a driving sim. It's car porn for time trials for people to ogle their cars in replay. For that weird reason, I actually kind of like it. But it's no substitute for other games that simulate racing better and give you more options (visual and upgrades) for customizing your car. Even options for painting your car a single colour are limited.

Racing and car building/tuning are different things. How often do you see a driver pull into pit, hop out, swap his tires and make his own suspension and aero adjustments? In real life, if you're on a track, driving a car like those in GT5 (sans throw-away cars), you have a dedicated crew to tweak your stuff while you're in the seat. This game was designed to challenge the skill of a driver. You picked the wrong game for your tastes.

Man we have some complainers on here.

What delayed this game was PD perfecting the actual DRIVING REALISM, not because they thought it should have better graphics or flashier tracks. That has always been the main focus of Gran Turismo, and GT5 has nailed it the best so far imo.

ill say it again. GT is all about the most authentic, realistic DRIVING experience you can get. thats it. thats the core of it all. everything else comes last.

If you find real life driving physics boring, then look elsewhere.

[QUOTE="jay_rock_"]

[QUOTE="GrizzlyBear1976"]

If you don't like stock car racing this game isn't for you. Grid is the best racing game on Ps3 If you have both systems get Forza 3

GrizzlyBear1976

Not really for you yeah but not for me both of those games suck real bad plus I hate arcade racing games,anyway Im having a ball right now with GT5 can't wait to try the rally part of the game I still like TEST DRIVE witch is one of the best racing games ever and the new one is coming next year...

So you're saying the two top reviewed most popular racing games for 360 and Ps3 suck and this game that everyone thinks is overhyped crap is good. and something about Test Drive whatever I stopped reading when it became clear you only quoted me to boost your post count and troll.

Sorry but GRID is a joke. I have the game, and it's amusing at times, but really the physics are horrendous, even for an arcade racer.

There are 1000+ cars, more than 800 I will not use. And no cockpit view unless it is a premium car. WTF??? 8.5 is a high score for it. 5 years in development and this was the best that they come up with? Need for Speed is more fun IMO.

honestly i cannot understand why people are making a fuss about the graphics, they look pretty good if not the best for a driving game (i will be receiving my copy of the game today, so my opinion is based on the reviews and hd previes of the game, which did look incredible)... it is mentioned that there are approx. 1.000 cars in the game, 200 of them are "premium" cars with meticulous attention to detail, which is quite staggering, i do not understand why people complain about this, when was the last time there were 200 highly detailed cars in a game, let alone in hd??? i love the driving game genre too much i guess, and not only sims or arcades but everything in between as well, well except the turn the nfs series took (i am not talking about the last nfs game, i have to try it out first but i am a big criterion supporter, so most probebly i like it as well)... :)

Gran Turismo is not for everyone, just how I can't stand COD games at all there are many people who don't enjoy GT series. You do have to do some research before spending 60$ mate..

And I don't mean listening to hype and your fiends who majority of the time will have different taste. ;)

They said in an interview that they were focusing on making every little detail perfect, and I must admit, after seeing some of the gameplay, some of it is the best in this gen - but with all that focus on the little things, they forgot a few big, big things.

It just isn't for you. You enjoyed the NFS Hot Pursuit demo - so stick with arcade racers if you plan to purchase another of that genre.

I take it back: after some days with it i came to enjoy it.. sure some cars and tracks look bad for a game that has been in the making for so long, but once you get the hand of it, it is actually fun to play, and there is lots of things to do

Ive been doing B-Spec and its actually fun to make money doing nothing (if you have a faster car then everyone else and your driver doesnt drive like a retard As for the graphics cant you set 720p 4xAA in the display options? I have a 1080i TV so i cant set it. That should clean up the look alot.

Apparently 800 cars have no cock pit view????

WTF

IGN gave it a 8.5

sgotskillz

Only about 200 or so premium cars have cockpits and decent graphics. The rest look like they where ported from GT4. This game has been a big disappointment for me. It feels incomplete and it may have 1000 cars but only 1/4 of the library is worth using, they also forgot 1 of the most important car manufacturers " Porshe". :|I thought it would have been better considering all the delays. BTW who on earth wants to drive a toyota prius on a track?? :x

I've been playing it for a couple of days now and I'm disappointed as well.

First thing I did was go on to Special Stage Route 5 with weather effects and to be honest I was underwhelmed to say the least. The spray makes the cars look ugly (if you look on the sides of the cars you see massive jaggies and ugly lines), with similar effects happening when you kick up dust. All this and I was driving one of the "Premium Cars" - a Nissan GTR. Some tracks look great but others could quite easily pass for a Ps2 game (Top Gear track is a very good example).

Also not impressed with the decisions they made for the Premium Cars. I was pretty miffed when I saw that a Suzuki Cappuccino was a Premium (I mean, really?), but a world famous classic car, the E-Type Jaguar (which happens to be my favourite) was Standard :evil: . Also don't understand why you can't buy new brakes for your car, which is weird because after adding new engine modifications to your car it's brakes seem to magically become better without you having to buy new ones :?. I alsocan't fit certain parts to cars that I know I should be able to. For example I can't fit a Supercharger onto my E-type - which is very strange because in real life you can.

I was left with mixed feelings on GT5. The driving is solid (after you turn off all the aids), but the game is flawed in so many areas and generally lacks polish. When I play Dirt 2 I'm blown away by the detail in the tracks and in the environments, but when I look at GT5 it looks incredibly bland. The cardboard trees for one look like they've been taken straight out of GT4 and the backdrops don't look real at all. I'm left wondering where all this "polishing" and "perfecting" actually went to, because so far I'm yet to see any whatsoever.

I preferred the menu system in GT4 as well, don't understand why they stopped dividing the manufacturers by country and instead chose to just mix them all together - which is fine for me because I know my cars, but non car fans will struggle more. I think PD need to take some lessons from Codemasters on how to make a "next-gen" driving game, because PD are stuck 6 years behind everyone else.

This. 100%.

If people love it for what it is, which is a virtual garage, then that's great. And if the multiplayer (which had to be patched in, lame) ends up being a a lot of fun, also great. But a lot of us "complainers" (myself included) do not like the series because the racing against the computer is absolutely terrible.

I love racing arcade games like Burnout... but when it comes to realistic driving simulations, I hate them. I want to have fun and escape the realism in our world. lol So I would prefer Hot Pursuit over the GT Series.
