'Older' gamer here. Here's some 'stuff' I built which is powered by a single PC. I get a lot of enjoyment from this hobby. I also have some other projects in my room.
@ThereIs0nly0ne: Wow! The build quality is truly exceptional. You are an amazing craftsman. If I was rich, I would definitely hire you to build me some cool shit. If only the arcade cabinet was for 2 players though... future mod? ;)
Thanks @BassMan. Re the Arcade Cabinet - when I get some more space, I'll build another the same ;)
It's a hobby I fell into really. I had no woodworking skills at all before I started my first project and doubted my ability to build anything functional. I borrowed tools initially and went from there. I discovered it was something I really enjoyed doing.
My current project is a space sim seat for Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen. I'll likely get a VR headset for this later this year or early next. I've re-cased a Thrustmaster Warthog and included an iPad mini (borrowed from my wife ;) ) to run Roccat PowerGrid. I will also attach the rudder pedals I have once I've made the base for it. Typically, I will also try an personalise projects by adding a few points of interest such as the ejection seat panel on the side, digital display on the shoulder sections. Build log for CP-1 is here
@ThereIs0nly0ne: I encourage you to continue this great hobby of yours. You have a gift. I am sure you can turn this hobby into a profitable business venture if you choose. People will pay big money for custom work of this quality. You can also apply these skills to customizing full home theater/gaming rooms.
Thanks for that @BassMan, your comments are very much appreciated. I am thinking about turning some of these into kits but they'd need to be simplified somewhat as they're quite complex as they are.
I've dabbled with certain Home Theater elements - making some very effective accoustic panels which make the world of difference with sound quality (I'm fortunate to have a very good setup).
A couple of pictures of the room these projects sit in and one of the mess that's made during the process:
@ThereIs0nly0ne: all the crap i see on reality programs and PBS woodworking shows. you should be a TV star with this stuff. f*ck custom fish tanks and pools. you should be building custom gaming rooms for people on tv.

@Chatch09, it still need some work doing to get it looking how I want it - filling and sanding etc. The basic structure is as follows:
Pieces for the central mechanism container:
Assembled and fitted to the centre of the seat:
The main, stow-able section is as follows (MDF and aluminium strips)
I made some retainers which fit to the bottom of the above structure and are designed to rest on a piece of wooden dowel:
Another piece of dowel is passed between the aluminium and rear MDF sections:
This has then been attached to the centre container. The following pictures show the mechanism stowed and raised:
There's still a fair bit to do to get this neat and more stable but it serves the purpose for its function well. I wanted something that operates simply and quickly.
have some dusting to finish and getting these Hard Disks out of here for even more airflow. so will be looking to tighten it up some more. a lot of it is just adapters and odd placed connectors i'm also looking to replace with extended cables. there's tons of room behind the MB in these 500Rs.
pissed now that i do see all these GPUs coming with nice side panels, etc. it's about time. i thought this one was nice when i got it compared to all the ugly pcbs and fins that were always showing at the time.
@PredatorRules: Yeah that's important. I got two intake and one exhaust. Atm the intake fans are much stronger than the exhaust, but I rarely run them close to full speed. Also they are behind dust coverings so airflow to them is restricted.
Can't wait for EK to release a waterblock for the GTX 980Ti Gaming G1. Then I can return to my old fans at low rpm and not worry about a hot case.
@BassMan:I want some of those 2K rpm industrial ones... But they are pricey. And I would run them at 800rpm most of the time :P
@horgen: looks like a RAID configuration screen. but, what do you need so much super-speed access for at home? of course it would be awesome to replace all my space with EVO, and cooler inside your tower than any 5000+rpm hard disks.
was more just a jealous comment than anything. if i had more money than i knew what to do with i'm sure i'd do something as or more extravagant.

And super write speed... I'm thinking about making a raid 1+0 set up myself...
@horgen: have a few OCZs i tried in both RAID 0 and a software Striped array. actually got faster read\write times using the Striped array setup through Windows than the RAID setup through BIOS. probably nothing noticeable outside of benchmarks.
just wish there was ways to keep adding disks to either type without having to reformat every time. every few months i've been sent another SSD for review but have never been bigger than 256GB so i'd like to just keep adding them to the setup as they come in. has become my newer-more-demanding games drive(s) and for those with slow load times.
The green one I might attach to the under side of the ceiling in my case. I should have bought more than one of that one. A simple strip with cable on the end.
The blue/green/red one is okay. It's a glass cylinder light... Dunno what they are called... The shop called them cold cathode or something. Not to much wiring mess with it but I get a blue little box along with it. Luckily I can add another one just like it to the same box. The completely blue one there was a big let down. A frickin cable mess if I want to use it. Also takes up a expansion slot on the case.
And yeah you are probably wondering... I got two 2 pin cables which changes to molex connectors connected to my fan controller. Now my fans doesn't use 150W yet so I got some free power available and molex connections as well.
@michaelg414: Looks good. Nice clean setup all around. Nice choice in monitor of course. ;) My only concern is your monitor height. It looks like you have to tilt your head up.
@BassMan: Thank you. Monitor height may be higher than most people would like but it's been comfortable for me as my eyes are just about level with the center of the monitor when I'm sitting. It's been comfortable even after hours of gaming. Only my left wrist goes a little numb if I have to use the shift key a lot. May consider a keypad down the road assuming it'd help with that.
