I'm dissapoint with the beta.
I have a i5 2500K at 3.3 Ghz, 16 GB DDR3 1600 Mhz and a GTX 690; maxed, at 2560 x 1440 in my 27" Dell U2711 display Battlefield 3 usually runs around 75 fps (FXAA, X16 AF). Crysis 3 beta in Very High, with all options maxed at the same resolution and using either FXAA, SMAA X2, MSAA X2 or the other one I barely dent above 30 fps-more like 26-29 fps in combat-. Seems like the game even't recognize the SLI, and runs 45 fps under the BF3 performance, despite having much lower scale and environment destruction. Yes, has higher detail in weapons and more variety in textures, but nothing to fall in awe, and the performance is craptacular.

there is an FOV slider that goes up to like 80 i think and makes it s lot better that the default 55. Also its multiayer beta so i wouldnt judge it too soon, crysis 2s beta ran crap too. And the laggy stuff is always in crysis mp, and yeah its annoying. Its incredibly delayed at times and hard to control your shots. Crysis isnt designed for multiplayer anyway so if you want it for mp alone then i would avoid it. Planetside 2 csn be laggy too so be warnedYes, in Options under "Game" there is a FOV setting. I always play with FOV 70 in FPS games...it makes a huge difference in this game. Crysis 2 had default god awful 55 FOV as well, and you could only change it with console commands, so I'm very happy they included it in the options menu.
Also I don't understand why your performance is that bad. I have an i5-2500K at stock 3.3 ghz, 8GB DDR3 and a GTX 670 2GB and I'm pulling 45-55 fps on Very High with SMAA medium, with drops to like 35-40 in firefights. I'm guessing its the resolution you are playing at (I'm at 1920x1080). Firstly its a beta so its most likely not optimized, and second you shouldn't be too upset if you can't max the game at your res with high amounts of AA. Crytek said they intend for Crysis 3 to be a benchmark game much like Crysis 1, where current hardware won't be able to max it completely and it will take at least a few years for that to happen. If that's the case, can't be angry. I mean hell, my GTX 670 only pulls 60ish fps now in Crysis 1, and its almost 6 years later!
I play the highest FOV in I can as far as 90-95.
And he has a 690 which is basically SLI in one card and there was no SLI fix for a while to make it run well, so he was basically running one car rather than the full power of the 2 he has. I think. Need correction on that
