I didn't think the key trick would work, so thanks TC. However, I can't download it. I know you aren't supposed to be able to, so did you guys do anything to get it to start or did it do it on it's own?

WiiRocks66
Nope, just started downloading on its own. The ironic thing is, I'm probably one of the few people that don't even care to play the game right now. I'm too busy studying for an exam tomorrow. :P

The new beta drivers fixed my stuttering issues in BF3. Thank god, I was starting to get really angry as every 310.xx release was garbage for me.

I can't find the latest drivers anywhere, even under beta drivers.

The latest it shows is 310.90.

Funny, I get 4+ mb/s with Steam.

Highest I have ever hit with steam was 1.0mb/s :(

I hit 11mb/s on steam....at my college D:

You probably have a better connection than I do. My 10mb/s cable plan is good enough for what I need. Most downloads don't take too long at the point where i get frustrated. This coming from someone who has used AT&T DSL for years (yes it was dumb of me). I use Time Warner Cable now, but it's pretty trafficky in the Los Angeles area. Once in a blue moon, I'll get hit with network crash. 4mb/s would be a thing of beauty!

GTX 460 1GB of VRAM, Core i7 920 at 3.8GHz

35-40 FPS at 1920x1080 very high settings (AA off)

60-100+ FPS at 1280x720.

But then again it's only multiplayer. I doubt the singleplayer will run half as well judging by the difference in graphics.

That's MB not mb.

seanmcloughlin

Whatever, we all knew what it meant

How do you know? Did you poll everyone that read it including those that never wrote a reply? I'm sure you knew what he meant because you make the same assumption that 'mb' is megabyte and megabit at the same time.

Each of those pictures is 6mb....6x17 = 100mb+ of pictures in that one post... Maybe it would be better if you linked thumbnails? Not the original high resolution pictures. Not everybody has Fibre Optic connections.

Played the beta for about 30 minutes... Nothing interesting enough to keep me playing any longer.

Performance on my setup:

  • i5 2500K 4.4GHz
  • 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
  • GTX 680 2GB

1920x1080 with SMAA X4

  • Game effects: High
  • Object: High
  • Particles: High
  • Post Processing: High
  • Shading: High
  • Shadows: High
  • Water: high
  • Antistropic filtering: 16x
  • Texture resolution: high
  • Motion Blur: None
  • Lens flare: Yes

60-70FPS.. Never dips below 30FPS, Very playable.

If I set everything to Very High I get around 40-50FPS and dips lower than 20FPS, playable but not good enough for a FPS game.

If the optimize it more a GTX 680 should be able to max out the game and get 60FPS average.

My system: 680 GTX, i7 3930k @ 4 GHz, 16 GB Ram, latest Nvidia beta drivers.

Tried out the different AA methods and TXAA + SMAA seem to be bugged.

TXAA:

SMAA:

crysis3mpopenbeta2013kgsho.png

MSAA 8x:

crysis3mpopenbeta2013oiuol.png

FXAA:

crysis3mpopenbeta2013v0sj7.png

Visually it looks good for sure, but I expected more. Maybe the SP will change that impression... Performance wise very high seems to be intended for the 690 GTX as selecting that + high TXAA or SMAA runs with 30-40 fps on my system. TXAA seems to be bugged and blur the crap out of the whole picture. SMAAx4 is bugged on my system as well, but it looks the best image quality wise. Performance hit using SMAA X4 is pretty big. FXAA isn't very effective in getting rid of jaggies but was the only selectable AA method that worked properly.

when i tried to install the drivers cleanly the screen never came back,it was blank for over 30 mins. So i rebooted and when i did nvidia control panel wasnt there. Reinstalling the drivers wouldnt work at all, not even older versions or system restore. Even installing in the x4 pci slot didnt work, so my only option was a reinstall of windows. It formatted my HDD too even thoughi never told it to. So now i have to reinstall everytjing.probably could have been avoided but whats done is done now lol. Might do my computer good to have a full reinstall anyway

I was only able to play one match. It's alright. Feels a lot like Crysis 2. It does look a lot better though. And I'm able to max it and my framerate never went below 40.

Something is fishy about these new Nvidia drivers, because they removed them from their website. Hope you get your PC reinstalled fast ^^

Btw. I found a setting now that works pretty well. Everything set to very high + SMAA x 2 gets me about 50-60 fps. It seems that the MSAA is bugged in this game, causing the white lines indoors. TXAA and SMAA high both use additional MSAA

Yes, very high is the highest setting. I play with adaptive Vsync and my 680 is at stock speeds^^ I tweaked the settings a bit since then and got a good mix of very high and high + SMAAx2 and am getting stable 60 fps now.

I will have to wait until I get out of work to play. I dl the new drivers and beta last night. I have a similar setup: 4.5GHz 2500k, GTX680@1400mhz/+500memory, 1866Mhz 8gb ram, win7. Hoping for steady 60 fps with a few things like motion blur and post processing at medium, because I played C2 mp and it was harder to maintain 60fps then it was in SP.

I just played a couple rounds and this is what I found out. I got an i7 2600k stock with hd6970 and sure it cant max the game, i had to play on lowest settings no AA, until I found out that VSYNC was eating them FPS. I turned that off and then i could play on high., but I dont recall if i had AA off or on FXAA.

I think there's no AMD beta driver realease that i know of so we kinda screwed, and im sorry i didnt have the counter on for fps.

Btw. I found a setting now that works pretty well. Everything set to very high + SMAA x 2 gets me about 50-60 fps. It seems that the MSAA is bugged in this game, causing the white lines indoors. TXAA and SMAA high both use additional MSAA

i had all my steam games on a separate hdd anyway so theyre safe. Just have to redownload all my drivers for sound card etc. And i hope the gpu works when i put it back in the x16 pci slot. Had all my youtube projects on the other drive too so its basically just origin games like bf3 i haveto redownload

I got an hd6970 and sure it cant max the game, i had to play on lowest settings no AA, until I found out that VSYNC was eating them FPS. I turned that off and then i could play on high., but I dont recall if i had AA off or on FXAAmr_chalupa
vsync should always be off for a competitive mp fps game anyway. Dat input lag is horrible

For sure. Some games don't have any noticeable input lag, but with some like FarCry 3 it is unplayable.

I use triple buffering to solve that and I can play even games like BF3 perfect with it.

How is that possible... I get around 40FPS with a single GTX 680 with everything on Very High and 4X SMAA. Do you have the Beta drivers?

I hope you are using D3D Overrider and not Nvidia's worthless Triple Buffering because Nvidia's triple buffering is not for D3D games, only OpenGL.

in online fps, I don't use vsync/tb. I always try to maintain 80fps and up. In those 64 player matches and big maps, it helps when the framerate dips, so that it doesnt dip below 60.

i never use either even if i have tearing. I prefer high frames and both make controls laggy as hell. Tearing in bf3 isnt bad anyway, crysis 1 will always be the king of tearing:P
