Hmm.. horgen, maybe I was wrong on my OC'ing

at 4.4, vcore was fine at 1.244

4.6 looks like 1.293

not sure if thats good or bad on air :P

I'm still wondering how people with the same setups as mine get way higher scores than me with similar clocks.

Actually i'm only interested in graphic scores. And I assume 12.6k for a single non-OCed 970 is good or average at least so i'm happy. I'm a complete noob in OCing so don't wana mess around unnecessarily.

CPU can play a big role, physics really bumps up the final score.

@insane_metalist if you check my new score, my graphics are just about at 13k
This is with the card still under 1500mhz. Trying to see how far she goes.

Only +95 on the core? My reference card alone I am able to push +203 on the core and 5900mhz memory (R9 290's are 5000mhz @ default).
Our graphics scores are pretty much identical but my physics score is 12268 @ 4.4GHz while yours 8810 @ 4.4GHz. That's actually a lot more then I thought it'd be.
Total score difference in Firestrike is 538.

I can get a higher + if I don't enable K Boost, I think its like 150.
But it just crashes. I know the max for the core clock on this card. But I can't reach it, if K Boost isn't enabled. I tried yesterday. It just goes to a grey screen and resets the clocks.
But I'm sure you already know what K Boost does :P

Very noiiice! Ahh 7990 is weak, I poop on it with a single R9 290.
Is that a challenge "13K graphics score" ?

I wanted a 290. Had I waited I would have grabbed a pair instead just like you instead of having this 970. Just got impatient since I don't have a job atm, so saving up that money was a real pain. :P
Postmortem123 said i should be able to get there. I'm trying lol. Just wish I got a better card. Reaching 13k would be nice. But I don't think I can get there.

I feel you on the job thing... I didn't have a job for 3 months and now I do but I strongly dislike it.. I am in the process of getting a new job, almost there. Money is a bitch... I think for my next build I'll go with X99 + 5820K and if it happens this year then I'll probably just add a third R9 290.

I know I haven't updated the scores as I should have. So I am quoting them in this post, the ones I know I have missed.

@GoldenElementXL: Good luck with your RMA. I am still not done tuning my current system and will have to upgrade my PSU soon. I got another system in the works too. That one will be a surprise for the benchmark thread though ;)

I come to think of something. A potential problem with this benchmark. Updating 3Dmark... Which happens pretty much automatic if you got Steam, and kinda required (I think) if you wish to continue submitting scores to FutureMark's site. The scores may change a bit when you update the benchmark. Should I ask for which version you are now using of 3DMark? What do you guys think?

Depends on price, performance and heat. Or the R9 390... Work has been cutting hours for almost everyone lately so I am not sure how much money I'll have the coming months.

Well... Considering the amount of GCN cores in it, that's not so bad really. Titan Black and Titan X doesn't have that big difference between, and the power draw gap between them isn't massive either.

Exactly. I don't know why everyone bitches so much about R9 290(X) drawing so much power when GTX 780 Ti alone almost matches it.

Because nVidia has better cooling on it.
