NAY! I can't prove that music exists, either. No, you can't. Music might not exist, it might just be an elaborate and auditory illusion. Just like existence might be. But what's this illusion coming from? What's displaying it? What if nothing's displaying it? What if nothing exists at all, not even this illusion... But you're conscious... What if you're not... Then, what the hell is this? It's nothing...
Dark Side of the Moon is by far my favorite album, with Meddle in second. Pink Floyd, and I love most of their albums, even Obscured by Clouds, Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother. Surprisingly I am not that big of a fan of the Wall, and I detest The Final Cut. I think Pink Floyd went too far into the progressive genre with the Wall, and lost their Pyschedelic roots, up until the Wall I think they managed to incorporate Progressive, Psychedelics and Blues-y sound at times, together rather amazingly to create a really unique and amazing sound. I also really enjoyed A Momentary Lapse of Reason and the Division Bell. I don't really like The Wall and Final Cut becuase I felt the band stopped being Pink Floyd and became "Roger Waters with the occasional David Gilmour solo". Richard Wright was fired, Nick Mason was rarely used for the Final Cut, and David Gilmour only recorded solos at some points. Also P.U.L.S.E. (Pink Floyd live 1994) version of Comfortably Numb > Studio version of Comfortably Numb.
I'm not really a huge fan of Pink Floyd to be honest, mostly because I got tired of everybody praising Dark Side of the Moon like its the best thing since sliced bread but couldn't name one song out of that album besides Money. However out of all their albums I really enjoyed Animals the most, probably because I enjoy concept albums. That said, this also has a more acoustic sound than previous Pink Floyd albums... In a way Animals reminds me of Porcupine Tree, hence why I probably prefer this album over other PF albums..
Well its interesting what couldve been of The Wall had they consolidated it, as you see on the PULSE version of Another Brick In The Wall. Still, Waters went about creating an album that was more raw emotion but did it at the expense of music.Dark Side of the Moon is by far my favorite album, with Meddle in second. Not forgetting the kids who wear the shirts and say their favourite song is Comfortably Numb:lol:I'm not really a huge fan of Pink Floyd to be honest, mostly because I got tired of everybody praising Dark Side of the Moon like its the best thing since sliced bread but couldn't name one song out of that album besides Money. That or Another Brick in the Wall (the Korn version)
The Wall is the best story ever put into song. And WYWH has that song Shine On You Crazy Diamond, one of thier best IMO.They are nice albums, sure, but I say they are overrated as Floyd albums since so many ppl bring them up as their best and that is mostly because these are the more accessible ones. That's about it.I agree they're not the best, but overrarted? C'mon
EDIT: I managed to screw that up.
Mikey132
After DSOTM they got stuck on the the theme/concept albums and became formulaic producing what is far from their best. Save for Animals ofc. < 3 Dogs.
I don't consider Shine On You Crazy Diamond all that either. Hell, Syd didn't even like WYWH. ;d
[QUOTE="BATTOSAI76"]Dont get me wrong, prog rock is awful, boring pretentious, cheesy crap, but Pink Floyd were completely detached to the scene. They did their own thing and flourished, which is quite amazing because even geniuses cant work in vacuums. Oh my god, worst post I've ever seen.Honestly, I've always found the whole prog rock genre a tad dull.

Because nothing is more cheesy than melodic, trippy, and mind-blowing music...

Call me crazy but my favorite album is Division Bell (their new stuff.)
But "The Wall" is pretty much the classic.
1) Animals
2) The Wall
3) Piper at the Gates of Dawn
4) The Final Cut
5) Dark Side of the Moon
6) Meddle
The first three will switch order from time to time.
[QUOTE="GulliversTravel"][QUOTE="RisethNameless"]DittoGuppy507LOL i thought prog-rock fans would be used to the extreme hate the genre gets:lol: The genre doesn't get hate very often at all. Every once in a while though, a bad person comes along and posts wrong stuff about it. This. The genre is actually praised more than hated innit. It's just that a few people think It's not much more than guitar solos and weird time signatures. (We can thank Dream Theater for that)
[QUOTE="themajormayor"]And what bands do you like? I don't like "bands". I like real music. Like music created by the guy in my avatar. But there are some bands which has a good song or two; U2, Rolling Stones, ELP, Jethro Tull, Linking Park, The hives. Point is Pink Floyd is one of the worst. Why? Cause they're IRL douchebags, and this is reflected in their music.Worst band in existence

If you like the music created by that guy in your avatar (Who I assume is a classical composer, I don't actually know who that is) then It's safe to assume you like Beethoven. He too, was an IRL douchebag.Worst band in existence

[QUOTE="themajormayor"][QUOTE="RisethNameless"]You really think so? I think they're both as good as each other. Moonlight Sonata is a very nice piece indeedRisethNamelessNo it sucks IMO. Unless you're talking about the 3rd movement, it's ok. Most famous classical songs suck IMO. You have to dig deeper to find the goodies. The goodies such as..? Give me examples and I'll let you know what I think of 'em
Ok these ones are very famous ones but it's still very good. I pick it because it's easy accessible maybe but still goodies.
