Until just recently, I never really listened to Pink Floyd all that much. They just never interested me that much. I found them, to be completely honest, a little boring.
I've always been a massive fan of Progressive Rock though, which confused me since so many people seemed to love them so much. And so, I listened to Animals and ish You Were Here, properly, with all my attention focused on ever aspect of the music. I fell in love. And since then they've only gone and grown on my even more. Their sound is one of the most awesome and unique I've head in Progressive Rock.
Such great music, such talent, such emotion and creativity. A band that deserved every inch of their success. With their best album being Wish You Were Here, in my opinion.

And what of you? How much do you love (or not love) Pink Floyd?

I think they went off a bit after Syd Barrett left, so "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" is my No.1 Floyd album.

Although, admittedly, I haven't listened to all their albums, Wish You Were Here, is just in a league of its own.

My favourite is between Atom Heart Mother, the album that first introduced me to them and that I utterly adore, and Wish You Were Here, the album that solidified them as an amazing band to me. Though the latter is the better album, I can't ever look past AHM, so that will probably take the spot. Pink Floyd the band were amazing, it's just a shame that with most other great things in life (and music in particular) the fans that are on their nutsacks kind of kill the vibes but ignore them and enjoy and ****s sweet.

It's between Wish You Were Here and The Final Cut. I also have a special place in my heart for The Wall, which was the album that introduced me to them.

Dark Side and Wish You Were Here and both my favorite, with The Wall right behind them. Time is definitely my favorite song, and Welcome To The Machine has that unique sound that just gets stuck in my head. I also never get tired of singing along to Wish You Were Here lol.

One of the best no doubt. Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, and Meddle. DSOTM is a great album from start to finish. WYWH has the best intro and outro. Echoes is a great long collaboration from all 4 members. And if you never have seen them live, you never will. However there is a band called Australian Pink Floyd, that pretty much replicate them. They got the seal of approval from Pink Floyd themselves to use their name because they are that good. I have seen them twice now, and they sound great, and have a great "floyd-like" show.

The original Floyd sounded amazing (from videos on YouTube lol), but my mom at least got the chance to experience them when she was younger, and told me it was amazing.

My favourite band by far. If you liked those 4 albums, make sure you listen to Meddle, it stands up to their peak-period albums, and the track Echoes is as good as anything on DSOTM or WYWH. Most people will say that WYWH is better than DSOTM, however i think that much of it is to do with the fact that it gets far less attention. IMO, its a masterpiece, but its lyrics are nowhere near as strong as DSOTM, and while the music goes deeper, it doesnt cover as much. The saddest part about the band is that how it simply fell apart from WYWH, and we never really got to hear them at their best afterwards. Animals and The Wall are great records, but they were the albums that couldve been so much better had the band dynamic not become lopsided to Waters. Regardless, they still have stuff worth checking out. Piper At The Gates of Dawn is an essential psychedelic album, and Saucerful of Secrets, while not quite as good, is still worth listening to as it is an evolution of their sound but a step towards what they would become later. The two David Gilmour led albums are also worth a spin, you can see that the band is sorely lacking focus that Waters brings, but A Momentary Lapse of Reason has some really strong tracks that are regarded Pink Floyd classics. The Division Bell tries to go towards the cohesiveness that the band were known for, and is a good effort. Lastly, if you loved The Wall, give The Final Cut a go. The lyrics here are centre stage, and unlike The Wall which had a few radio-friendly numbers, this has none, fortunately its not a double LP so its not entirely inaccessible. However, the fact that it retains Waters angst and has some of Gilmours best guitar work means that its still worth checking out.

Dont get me wrong, prog rock is awful, boring pretentious, cheesy crap, but Pink Floyd were completely detached to the scene. They did their own thing and flourished, which is quite amazing because even geniuses cant work in vacuums.

Well i can see youre a Nirvana fan, Nevermind is a groundbreaking album, and yet sold as much as it did. The truth is, on a surface level its an album thats easy to get into, but to truly appreciate it, you need to know your music. Its similar with DSOTM, its the third best selling selling album of all time, and yet the lyrics and music only reveal themselves more everytime you listen to it. And for yet another Nirvana reference, WYWH is very much Pink Floyd's In Utero.

I think their awesome. My Pop told me that out of all the late 60's and early 70's concerts he went to, (He was kind of a hippy) Pink Floyds were the greatest because of the lights and lazers. My Favorite Pink Floyd Album is Pulse.

I just got into Pink Floyd a couple of months ago, they are absolutely amazing. The first album of theirs that I heard was Dark Side of the Moon, and it has become my favourite. Since then I've bought The Wall and Wish You Were Here, and I plan on just buying the Discovery Box Set soon. I think Dark Side is their best out of those three (I've only bought/heard those three).

I have been a fan of PF for a long time. As I got more of their albums, I was amazed at their range and diversity. From the clear diction of Piper at the Gates of Dawn to the screeches from Careful With That Axe Eugene to the really crazy animal like noises of Several Species of Small Fury Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict (probably the longest song title ever) and the story of The Wall, PF offers lots to listen to. Were PF on drugs? Who knows, but they did put together a bunch of music that is fantastic to listen to either sober or stoned.

I have become quite attached to this song from Piper for some reason:

The Gnome
