The Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
I'm curious as my personal favourite is Return of the Jedi. I want to know what others think.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. It has such a gritty and dark atmosphere to it; something that the other episodes do not have. Also, the events which take place in it are easily the most tragic and subsequently the most saddening in the entire saga.
Prequels and originals really shouldn't be compared, sooooo
EP:3
EP:6
Both are great for their time. Although, EP:5 is up their for me because of the twist that no-one (at the time) really saw coming.

I found them to be hilarious.
I thought it was a nice twist by Lucas to take the series from epic to dark comedy.
"If you are not with me, you are my enemy!"
and
"Love can't save you, Padme. Only my new powers can do that."

Well, I guess it's not without its imperfections. However, other events such as...
...the mass killing of the Jedi, Anakin slaughtering the children, Anakin's immolation, and Anakin's first breath in the iconic suit are all very moving sequences. They all brung Star Wars to a new level of darkness not delved into in the previous films.
What?
The "younglings" line had me in stitches. So did screaming, looks-like-hamburger Anakin, especially when he is screaming his lines.

I seperated the prequals from the originals so I could be clear on ranking the films. Comparing films with a 30 year gap, still the same story though is difficult.
Example: The duels in EP 3 are far better than any of the originals but the story from the originals is better than the prequels. Again, just an example.

Are you admitting that you did not, by your own free will, laugh hysterically about "younglings"? How does that term not inspire laughter in combination with the fact that he killed them? "OMG - he killed younglings" How about "You underestimate my power!!!" followed by jumpy slicey-dicey fire screaking "I hate you!!!!!" (though he should be totally unconscious)

I think they used the term "younglings" so they could avoid saying "killed kids". Just my opinion though.

Comparing the films is easy, since none of the new ones had any redeeming qualities other than CGI.

He killed all the kids!
vs
Not even the younglings survived.
I choose the latter.

I didnt find any of the duels from the prequels to be that good, honestly. In the original trilogy, Jedi are mystical and rare and when a lightsaber came out, it was impressive. In the prequels, everyone and their Uncle Cletus had a lightsaber, turning magical into mundane. Total waste.
As I said, to each his own; not everyone perceives things in the same way. I personally did not find it to be funny when the term "younglings" was used; that term seemed appropriate and consistent with the style of English that was spoken in the films. As for Anakin saying "You underestimate my power!!!" and then proceeding to make a poor attempt at attacking Obi, I don't see what the problem is; it was a good example of his arrogance and how self destructive it was. Also, Anakin has an abnormally high level of sensitivity with the force; it didn't surprise me that he maintained consciousness after sustaining his injuries (this is a work of fantasy and science fiction after all).

You are the first person I have seem not laugh at the "younglings".
Yes, I know Anakin was stupid. The point is they made him hilariously so. It was like watching a really drunk guy wanting to fight somebody and then getting his ass handed to him.
Tl;DR: The film can't be taken seriously.
