I watched that too.
Bollywood road movie NH10 about a how a city girl witnesses a Honour Killing in a rural indian village and gets her husband murdered also by the goons for witnessing the murders and how she takes revenge on the culprits in the end.Gory, Gritty movie 8/10 :)
Interstellar, it was m'eh. Kinda got too hollywood near the end.
Rambo (2008)
I liked this movie a lot, some of dialogue is wretched. But, it has a simple premise, delivering on what people want from these types of movies, macho bullshit and violence.
Unlike the Expendibles 3, this uses practical squib effects and pyrotechnics, one of two sequences look like shitty CGI, namely a world war 2 bomb going off and a mans intestines falling out. The rest is devoid of any puff CGI blood or bluescreen bullshittery.
The climax, is so over-top, with people literally being turned into chunks of meat, I found it difficult not to crack a smile. In this age of pussyfied, family friendly blockbusters (Taken 2/3 come to mind), it's nice to see something unrelenting in the violence and gore department.
I seem to remember that movie had an abundance of CGI blood effect that looked very cheap.

Then you probably aren't remembering correctly, it used squib effects.
Alot of them.
Saw some British movie on cable the other night about a werewolf that kills and eats about 7 kids and a few cops. Scariest part of the movie was the fact that it was a lot like my life (minus the werewolves, flesh eating, and British thing).
Watched "Akira" on an old 2001 dvd that has been sitting on the shelf untouched for the last 13 years.
Very good sci-fi movie. Most anime I see flung about tends to be over-flashy stuff or scantly dressed cartoon girls teenage boys seem fascinated with. While the climax of this film was grand with a capital "G" much of it is people talking and story being built, it's obtuse and difficult to understand, but I think the weirdness it part of what makes it interesting.
Interstellar- it was awesome and really interesting and had me asking questions the whole time! But no one warned me that it would make me cry so much.
Exactly , didn't see me-crying coming ...
The movie is simply one of the best ones i've ever watched ...
How was this? I take it you didn't see it properly.
Add that to your list of 2014 animated films better than Big Hero 6 I lik Big Hero 6
I liked it considerably more than Yonebayashi's previous effort; a sliver of hope still left at Ghibli, maybe?
Oh..
The Imitation Game. Very very good, although there were still touches of "Hollywood" that affected my immersion a couple of times. , His character was also misrepresented for dramatic affect (although that actually didn't bother me much as it worked fine for creating a good movie)
Crimson Tide
Thriller on steroids with testosterone levels that would give most females a beard.
11/10
Hunt For The Red October
Movie has a great premise, good acting and lots of cool scenes The ending isn't very good though, by the numbers shootout - feels like a bookend rather than something explosive, Crimson Tide's ending was more satisfying.
Props to Basil Poledouris on another epic soundtrack, even better than Crimson Tides imo.
American Ninja 3
This is n excellent B-movie from the 80's,
a child's father is gunned down by a terrorist in front of him during a kung fu contest. Next we see a montage of his fathers best freind (who is about 35) training the young boy. It jumps about a decade later, and that young boy, is now in his mid 30's, with his trainer looking the exact same, but with a grey beard.
A man plans to make terrorism better (this is how the movie actually phrases it) by creating super ninja's, however, he needs the ultimate warrior to test them against. Our hero must do stuff in order to something something.
11/10
Punisher (2004)
Surprisingly, this has a better story than most superhero movies with characters that are interesting. Unfortunately the action scenes look like something from a straight to dvd movie with obligatory love interest. for no reason.
Might check out Punisher 2, which apparently is more like an 80's action flick.
Last movie I watched was Basket Case. And I found it oddly disappointing. I remember WAY back in the day when I was a little kid, my dad brought home Basket Case on video. While he wouldn't let me watch it (because I was too young), he did let me hang around long enough to see a few scenes, and that Belial monster scared the **** out of me. And then later I heard that the movie has actually become sort of a cult horror classic. I've been meaning to check that movie out for a while as an adult, but I didn't finally do it until last night.
And...it was kind of a letdown. It fails on the horror front, it fails on the comedy front, it fails on the gore front, and it fails on the nudity front. I hear people describe it as a "horror/comedy", but it's just sort of BORING. I already accept that it won't be "scary", but I at least was hoping for some good gore. But even the gore was boring. Belial does all the kills, and basically ALL of them just revolve around grabbing a person's head and slashing them on the face. That's okay ONCE, but it got old by the second or third time a character was killed in the EXACT same way. No matter how much the filmmakers dressed the actors up in "slashed face make-up", it was still just essentially the same kill done over and over again. At least get a little creative with the kills.
Also, the nature of Duane and Belial's relationship was kind of interesting. There's an aspect there which makes me at least a little bit sympathetic about them going on a murdering spree. The problem is, the doctors seemed to want to kill Belial in order to save Duane, and Belial is actually a fucking asshole. If Belial was JUST out for vengeance against the doctors who wanted to kill him, I could at least kind of understand that. But Belial is the worst kind of hypocrite and just drags Duane down with him. Hell, when Duane finally gets a date (and he later states that's the first time he kissed a woman), Belial flips the **** out because he's a jealous piece of shit who can't tolerate his own brother (aka, the only guy who saved him from fucking DYING) actually liking someone other than him. So yeah...Duane can't get any action because Belial's fucking jealous. But it's okay for Belial to get some action. Belial has no problem sneaking out of his basket while Duane is drunk and trying to rape the woman in the room next door. Belial has no problem somehow making his way down the street while Duane is sleeping, and then molesting Duane's girlfriend while she's asleep and subsequently raping her to death. And that shit kind of ruined it for me. I can understand belial wanting to get revenge. I can understand Belial and Duane having a deep connection and Duane wanting to help Belial. I can even understand Belial hilariously flipping the **** out once Duane actually gets a date and kisses a woman. But the second they turned Belial into a goddamn Rape Monster, that's when they lost me.
Anyway...there's one scene in that movie that I do actually love. And that's the scene where Duane is on a date and kisses her, and then Belial senses it psychically and totally flips the **** out. For starters, that's the first time it's established that Belial is that much of a hypocritical jealous lunatic, so seeing him do THAT simply as a result of knowing that his brother kissed a woman is kind of funny. IUt's like..."lol...dude, that's kind of and over-reaction." And secondly, the stop-motion animation of Belial wrecking the motel room is just so fucking awful that it is GLORIOUS. I love that fucking scene. And just that scene. Other than that one scene, the movie is just sort of lame and I don't quite get why it's this cult classic. The gore is boring, the humor is sort of lame, and even the nudity is all tainted by the rapey stuff. The basic backstory of Duane and Belial had some potential, but they ruined even that by making Belial such a fucking asshole. It's just not a fun movie.
by contrast, I watched Re-Animator a couple of weeks ago, and that movie is actually a lot of fun. If you want your campy b-movie horror/comedy cult classic fix, then I would STRONGLY recommend Re-Animator over Basket Case. Re-Animator was consistently funnier and consistently gorier, and also just consistently better made on all technical criteria. Re-Animator, as bad as it is, is still just kind of FUN, while Basket Case is really sort of a dull fucking movie.

This is one of my all time favorites. Any movie that has a talking, severed head wanting to orally pleasure a tied-up co-ed is high art, as far as I'm concerned.
I never seen the original Basket Case, but I watched the first sequel about a few weeks ago. Fell asleep halfway through.
