on a normal basis i would be inclined to agree with you. But we arent treading new ground. Tons of other countries have a plethora of different healthcare systems in place working far better than ours... that have been tested and proven over a very long span of time. We have alot of examples to study and are fully capable of making a very educated decision to improve our healthcare system.

the main problem is, that for your healthcare to be cheaper... someone has to make less money off you. And the people making money, really like making money... and really dont want to see your healthcare be cheaper.

markinthedark

To improve it the way liberals want would mean massive new taxes. And then we come to another major obstacle, I don't like paying for other people.

Then move there. The EU isn't doing so hot. And who can blame them? I wouldn't be willing to pay the kind of taxes they have.

the thing is that the liberals say if the government gets involved in bussiness stuff gets better and that is what happens. you see, less government involvement makes things worse, but NO government invlovement makes everything perfect. the only reason why we're doing so bad is that the goverment won't stop getting involved

No, I don't, because the military protects me and everyone else. I don't like paying for things when I don't receive any benefits. I wouldn't pay for XBL if they said I can only have the service some of the time where others can have it whenever they want.

[QUOTE="-Sun_Tzu-"]What Paul Ryan wants to do is effectively privatize medicare, which will inevitably lead to more rationing and less seniors getting the care they need. airshocker

That's conjecture from you. I'm sorry, but I trust Ryan a lot more than an OTer.

You don't have to take my word for it, Paul Ryan has said that what he wants to do with Medicare is voucherize the program and have those vouchers increase in value at a much slower pace as overall health care costs, meaning that the government would start paying less and less for the health care of seniors; which is how his plan saves any money, by phasing the medicare program out until it is this unrecognizable health care voucher program that barely helps anyone, which skirts around the issue rather than actually improving the health care system and making it more efficient.

BTW, in case you have ever wondered why Medical procedures cost so much in America versus the same procedures in similar countries heres part of the reason why. Because there are so many that can not afford their medical bills, Hospitals are forced to jack up prices in order to cover those who can not pay. So even if you are paying insurance, you still end up paying for those that dont have it.

Although the 2 party system fails, its pretty clear who cares for people in the middle class

what so almost 2 years of unemployment payments isn't enough.... SERIOUSLY??!! One group is unemployed people currently receiving state unemployment checks. When their state benefits expire at the end of 26 weeks, they will not get any more money. According to the National Employment Law Project (NELP), this will affect about 387,000 laid-off workers. A second group is those who are already collecting under the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program, which has four tiers that provide an additional 53 weeks of benefits. The first tier is an additional 20 weeks; the second tier is an additional 14 weeks; tier 3 is an extra 13 weeks for states where unemployment is 6 percent or higher; and tier 4 is for 6 more weeks in states with unemployment at 8.5 percent or higher.

You mentioned socialism. Fire Departments, Police forces, etc. are all socialized programs.

airshocker

I didn't mention those, though. That would mean I don't have a problem with them.

A fire and a police industry would be a very large part of the economy if it existed. Privatizing it would make a country heavilly socialized.

[QUOTE="-Sun_Tzu-"]But I think that statement is more or less correct. What policy has the GOP proposed that will result in as many insured people as ObamaCare? airshocker

Why in god's name do I care if a certain amount of people are insured? I care about ME and MY FAMILY. No one else.

Obamacare isn't taking care of me. Until it does, I won't support it.

Well you should care. Not only are you more likely to die if you don't have insurance (and tens of thousands of people die every year because they don't have insurance, but then again I doubt you care - you've made that much clear), but more importantly when those uninsured people get treated in the emergency room - me and you - the people who have insurance, foot the bill because those costs get shifted over and eventually make it to our premiums. The uninsured are making you pay more for your health insurance.

While that's more or less true, I don't back down from a fight. :P Unless I have better things to do. Like Assassin's Creed 2. Good night all.

Yes you do. You always end up saying "I'll never convince any of you, you're all too stubborn." and go do some random task.

Dems: "Extend umexployment benefits"

GOP: "Go screw yourself, we're not talking about anything until you extend bush tax cuts for ALL americans, including the rich"

  1. I simply stated who cares about the middle class the most
  2. Uhhh....have you checked the economy lately?

Neither truly gives a rats behind. Heck Did Obama or Bush give us bailouts or Massive corporations and banks. Who cares about what group is a game. One side points the finger at the other and says, "Its there fault they don't care about you." The truth is NONE of them really do. Big Government and the parties are just Big corporations at this point. The politicians just say what they have to in order to get reelected in their "market." Seriously start looking at the parties like corporations and it all makes more sense.

Wall Street Reg= or the supposed no more bailouts, actually institutionalized bailouts by setting the requirements and it also protects BIG companies cause the little guys can't get them

CREATING Federal Agencies= How is more beuracracy good?

Social Security= Well its bankrupt so the Dems can have it if they want

unemployment= to be honest why do we pay people who don't have a job... I know it sucks for them, but how is 2 years of good for the copuntry?

safety standards=?uhmm well probably both parties since there are TONS of them

Seriously how can you say the 2 party system sucks but republicans are worse? Play there game if you want, you still end up with a dbag or a turd sandwich

Sometimes I wish the Republicans would take over the American government, just so I can see what would happen.

Uhh, actually resarching this would require you to look into the era of FDR when he created all these agencies...not making BS as you go along
