I really love Mario Kart, but after reading some of the hands-on previews of the game it seems like it might be just a little disappointing to me. I'll still get it because it's a guaranteed party-starter with my friends, but I'm going to lower my expectations just a little so I'm not disappointed.

IGN said that their preview copy had a much slower feel to it, i.e. less speed. They also said it felt a LOT more open with wider tracks and stuff, due to the 12-player modes, I think. But they said it might have a hard time surpassing the fun-factor of Double Dash. We'll see how it all pans out, though.

Edit: I forgot to mention that regardless of how good Mario Kart is, I'd still be infinitely more excited for Brawl. No matter what.

Well the game's out. What do you guys think? I gave it a 5/5 on my blog. ( There are a few little problems with it, but meh. )

Which one are you more excited about getting? I reserved Brawl, and really am dying to play it, but after reading the recent information about Mario Kart Wii, I'm somehow even more excited for that. Apart from the fact I like racing games more than ... I guess, fighting games, it just offers more. The things that appeal to me most about MKWii is that you can use your Mii's, 12 player Wi-Fi support, and it has leaderboards, unlike Brawl. These two games are must-buys for me.DaGamePhreak

mario kart but I've always been a huge fan of the series and prefer it over Super Smash Bros. but Brawl will probably end up being better I just prefer Mario Kart.

Mario Kart will appeal more to girls, so it is expected to have bigger sales in the long term

i guess that is SSBB is sold out for 1 week, mario kart may be sold out for 2 weeks
