That's one of the reason I DO want it, I'm sick of RPG's with characters that look like hyper versions of Days of our Lives characters. What's the matter with the characters?

They look stupid, that's whats wrong with them. The main character looks like ziggy with a ball on his head.
Im sorry but the characters do not intrest me at all. They dont look cool or interesting. I'm sure it will be a good game,but i'm not touching it. I dont understand why koei couldint give use something better.
I hope they aren't expecting that game to do well in the North American market! I am sure it will be a huge hit in Asia but *most* North Americans are going to be turned off by the graphics/play style of that game.
I love Koei, I even like the odd RPG, but that game has almost zero appeal to me.
The battles look fun (kinda like star ocean w/o the running around) but i don't like the way the game looks (characters and etc.) but it might be good...

Thats not the reason. The reason is that the characters look lame and uninteresting. Hell if I just saw a pic of the main character I would have been "well not getting this." The fact is I like the gameplay and art,but the characters just suck.
I think that a lot of the people saying it looked bad didn't watch the whole thing. Because even I thought the first half looked bad, until I saw the environments and battles. Also, all the characters don't look like the main character, it was just his family (or whatever).
That, or some people just can't stand to see an rpg where the main character doesn't have spiky hair. :|

Funny how the Okami fanboys would have said the same if Okami had been announced for the gamecube instead of the PS2. Also Sony fanboys would have claimed the graphics were great if Opoona had been announced for the PS3.
Weird. lol. it looks very quirky. it seems like you will be walking around and talking to people a lot. on the new IGN podcast the team compares it to shenmue. they say you can get like 20 different jobs and such. but agreed it looks promising ill keep my eye on this one.
I was like meh for the game but when I read it's the team of Dragon Quest 7 who develops the game. I was like it could be interesting. Koei is just the publisher FYI. They have nothing to do with the developement.
For those who thinks it's lame, Earthbound is lame for you. Because the game reminds me Earthbound.
The reason the characters are weird becase it's a nintendo game... Pretty much every game that's not on other games have monster and weird characters. On PS3 and Xbox 360 the main characters are always humans. With nintendo games that can try differant things.

Looks pretty good and all, but I still don't know why developers are afraid of making games with better graphics than GC games. The Wii can handle more advanced graphics. I'm happy with Xbox-graphics, but when I see all these new games looking exactly like GC games, I can't help but be a little bit dissapointed. I fear that Mario Galaxy is going to be the first amazing-looking Wii game.
I have to watch the trailer, but from some screen shots, the game does look interesting. I might it buy it jsut because it looks weird and it's a real RPG.
