With nearly nothing new announced for wiiU at this years e3, do you think weve seen the last of the games on the system?

Weve still got more set to be released like xenoblade, super mario maker, star fox etc. But with no metroid announced, no 3d mario to be seen and nothing else of much interest, is nintendo focusing all its efforts on its next console?

A few games this year and next year, but that's about it outside of a few digital games, virtual console games and a few kickstarter games.

The low sales and weaker power hasn't helped to inspire Nintendo or Western third party devs to make new games for the system, so yeah there's not much left for the Wii U.

Nah, I think games will continue to trickle out until the next console is released. When that happens, expect Wii U development to come to a halt. It's just more of the same; long droughts with a good game popping up here and there.

I'm expecting a Twilight Princess situation with the next Zelda. Where it is the last big game on Wii U but also a launch title for NX.

I think Star Fox Zero is the last "AAA" title from Nintendo exclusively Wii U. Everything else is heading toward NX.

It all comes down to sales. Wii U is Nintendo's worst selling console. It's even doing worse than the Dreamcast. It's not surprising for them to pull the plug on it.

Here's my opinion, and it may backfire on Nintendo, they should do whatever it takes to bring Zelda Wii U out next year. That may be a "rush" title and have problems, but Nintendo needs to realize they have disappointed a number of Nintendo fans. I know it's been mentioned countless times, but one of the reasons people buy Nintendo consoles is for the first party games. If a Zelda and/or Mario game, I don't consider Super Mario 3 D World as the big Mario expected from gamers, is not released for the Wii U, why should people not be hesitant to buy the next Nintendo console. Prior to the Wii U, gamers felt they would get their next great Zelda adventure. But now there's a what if scenario for every future console by Nintendo. The company have really shot themselves in the foot. It's going to take a lot to regain the trust they once had from a number of Nintendo fans. I'm disappointed, but still have hopes Nintendo has a surprise for it's fans today at E3 or very shortly after.

Sorry, but I'd rather see it delayed on to NX instead of a rushed Zelda game on Wii U. I don't want my favourite franchise getting the rushed treatment.

The fact that this Zelda is an open world game makes rushing even more dangerous. Open world games(looking at you, Skyrim) tend to have a lot of bugs. Nintendo needs to iron out as many problems as they can and polish it to the best of their ability. If that means delaying it to the NX, so be it. I don't want a busted, rushed Zelda game.

I completely understand what the two of you are saying. I also do not want a game w/ countless bugs or mistakes, but you have to consider the general fan base. The amount of Nintendo supporters is dropping. Zelda has been in development for at least 2 years, so in 2016 Nintendo would have a developed a game for 3 years. I wouldn't call that a rush. If Nintendo doesn't turn things around w/ the NX, they may stop, not necessarily due to lack of money, making consoles. Nintendo would become a respected software company. I would not want that to happen, but the main market considers the Wii U as the other console to own; meaning have a Playstation or Xbox and have the Wii U for the 1st party games. If there are not any Zelda and Mario games, they may begin to think what's the point in having a Nintendo console.

The system that could have been but wasn't.

So many stupid and unprofessional errors caused this system to be a dud before it even launched. The shot callers in Japan are just too damned prideful to admit their plan and strategy needs to change. I keep hearing the b.s. how Nintendo doesn't follow the rest of the gaming world because it focuses on fun. While that may be true, people are not buying into their ideas. people are sick of the same ole ideas.

The Wii U is like the dying fish in the aquarium swimming in a circle as it lays on its side. You know you need to flush it and even though you don't want to, it is inevitable. Nintendo knows it. A few games here and there might hit the retail stores but after this year I wouldn't remain hopeful. People should have realized it when Zelda was "delayed." E3 was the nail in the coffin.

@trugs26: Even if the sales are worst than the Dreamcast had it will have survived 4 years like most Nintendo consol.

@Coco_pierrot: Because Nintendo has the funds to ride out the situation. The Dreamcast died early because Sega was on the verge of collapse. When things started to go south, their financial footing disintegrated.

Are you trying to say most Nintendo systems are only supported for four years or in the market that long?

@Solaryellow: He isnt far off, the average life span for Nintendo home consoles are bout 5 years, usually in the last year support goes ghost. Wii was our longest lasting home console i think and it was about 5 years.

NES 1985-1990

SNES 1991-1995

N64 1996-2000

Gamecube 2001-2005

Wii was 2006-2011

Wii U 2012-2016

NX 2017-2022

@mesome713: After seeing how you listed the NX, I have come to the conclusion that it is futile having any discussion about Nintendo with a die hard loyalist.

@joe_b1_kenobi: Pretty much, it does seems like Nintendo has moved on to NX & Wii U is being abandoned...unless they announce new big games for Wii U ..in the upcoming Nintendo Directs (after E3)...safe to say goodbye Wii U & hello NX. Just hope they won't screw up NX launch like they did with Wii U launch. :P

Yoshi Wooly World, Mario Tennis, Star Fox Zero, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Super Mario Maker, Fatal Frame 5, Rodea Sky Soldier, Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival, Project Cars, and maybe Dragon Quest X

Enjoy ;)

"Surviving" isnt the best thing for a console. It should be thriving.

@SoAmazingBaby: I guess they would've kill it a long time ago if it didn't do well enough to keep developping software for it. They did kill the Virtual Boy quite fast because it didn't sell and the game cube was pretty much dead during the last year before the Wii came out.

You don't know jack squat about the NX but you want me to give credence to you pretending to know when it is coming out and how long it will be supported?

BTW, you did do some editing with your post regarding console life spans. Don't think I failed to pick up on it.

@Solaryellow: I only listed NX as a guess, i changed Wii U from ending in 2017 and NX starting in 2018 because after looking at the dates more from previous gen it made more sense.

Stuck out all the ones we already knew about, probably aren't coming, or don't apply to the west. Mario Tennis and AC are the only new announcements in that list. Project Cars on Wii U is in limbo. Dragon Quest X is only in Japan.

@YearoftheSnake5: I wasnt expecting much, Zelda was suppose to come out at the end of this year and they moved it back. If Zelda had come out with that line up it would have been good, but i dont think they have another AAA game ready. Mario Tennis was nice surprise, i thought they released nice line up for 2015, yeah Zelda would have been nice, i can wait to see what they changed.
