Is it still worth it to get a new 3DS?

What color would you all recommend and should I go XL?

Also how many virtual console games can fit on a 3DS hard drive I don't like disc swapping a lot anymore.

Just wanna play my SNES / NES games in bed like zelda 1 link to the past and final fantasy 4 and 6 advance on it in bed at night.

If you want it for access to the SNES VC, then I guess it is worth it. Otherwise, like all system upgrades, I would say its not worth it.

@ProtossRushX: I have huge hands and had to return the small one. Got the XL. Perk of the new XL is it has a better screen. Colors pop out so much better vs the new small or any of the old ones.

Do you think there will be a new color or bundle during black friday or a sale or something?

Also do you know how many SNES/NES games would fit the HD? Or do you buy a special disk to store them all on?

Probably not gonna wait tbh :\

@ProtossRushX: They usually do a cheap version and a special version for Black Friday. Stores will have most likely the regular n3DS XL for $149-179. Its usually a custom Mario one. They might do custom Pokemon, im not really sure.

The 4g SD card it comes with equals 32768 blocks. Each SNES game is about 50-100 blocks. NES games are bout 10-30 i think. I recommend 16-32g card if your gonna buy newer digital games like Indies, etc.

N3DS is very much my most played gaming device, I put more hours into it than my P.C. and PS4. Despite me liking all three for playing games.

With the Switch however it may complicate me giving a confident opinion whether a N3DS is worth purchasing, however because the Switch is still quite unknown for how reliable it'll be as a portable device; I'd stand with N3DS being the perfect experience. With a very impressive list of games, add to that it's still getting continuous support.

@ProtossRushX: Id be the wrong person to ask as green is my favorite color. I love the boldness of it. Also love the inside black.

Its too hard for me too pick colors as i end up liking them all. I love the look of the Galaxy also.

Like iandizion713 said, I'd see what kind of Black Friday deals there are for it. I don't know if you've owned one in the past but I would definitely consider it a worthy purchase, even more so if you've never owned a DS since it's backwards compatible. There are also lots of great GB/GBC games on the VC you can check out. That lime green color definitely looks great though, I wish I could have gotten one like that.

However, if you already have a 3DS, I don't think it would be worth it to pick up a new one.

How about if it's the old launch models, mines works but it's rather worn . Got no circle pad cover, stylus, the d-pad is peeling, and the touch pad has knick in it

@Celsius765: Id hunt for a Black Friday deal. The Black Friday ads should start leaking mid Nov. Then you could trade it in to a store or sell it on ebay or something.

The best deal so far has been the 2DS Bundle and the n3DS Super Mario Land bundle. But n3DS XL's are still regular price except for the Super Mario World n3DS XL.

Since Nintendo had said that the 3DS is not going anywhere soon, you still have time to buy one. Do not see the Switch as competing against the 3DS. They are actually two different systems.

If I didn't already have the limited edition Zelda: Majora's Mask New 3DS, this is the one I'd want. Looks awesome.

And yes, the 3DS is still worth it. Tons of great games released, and more incoming.

YES it is still worth getting a New 3DS or New 3DS XL system. Nintendo has stated that they do not intend of discontinuing the New 3DS/New 3DS XL once the Nintendo Switch is released. Even though Nintendo will have 2 portable systems on the market at the same time. The 3DS series of handheld has sold 60 million units. Support is strong for 3DS plus the 3D effect is much improved over the original 3DS models. Plus a better processor and the extra analog nub is a nice extra.

It remains to be seen if Nintendo Switch does end up cannibalizing 3DS developer support and sales of 3DS systems. But for now Nintendo has stated 3DS support will continue. But they said this way back in 2004 when the Nintendo DS first hit the market, The Gamecube and the Gameboy Advance were Nintendo's other gaming systems. The Nintendo DS was the third pillar. But a year later the Gameboy Advance died out in 2005 with the GBA Micro. The DS continued and Gameboy line died out.

So Will Nintendo Switch end up killing the New 3DS/New3DS XL? I just cannot see Nintendo supporting 2 handheld systems, Even though Nintendo Switch is also a home console. But either way a 3DS is worth getting as there is tons of great 3DS games to play.

3ds by itself is not worth it. But if you buy it to play both 3ds and nds games, yes that thing is amazing.

I hope so as I recently got one... Though I will use it mostly to play older classics and a few games I've missed from NDS.

I've gotten a lot of mileage out of the system. Inbetween the retail releases like Pokemon, Etrian Odyssey, Zelda, Dragon Quest, smash Bros, and Shin Megami Tensei, digital only titles like Azure Striker Gunvolt, Steamworld Heist, Boxboy!, and Binding of Isaac, and Virtual Console games like Super Metroid, this system has given me a lot of good times with gaming. Granted, I think to get the most mileage out of it you have to be a big JRPG fan like me, but there is still PLENTY of variety for people of all kinds. That's not even mentioning the fact that it has access to the original DS library, which is easily among the best in gaming.
