I was just curious, how many of you are completists? By this I mean that

A. you don't consider a game beat until you unlocked every possible thing and got every item or whatever it may be, or

B. you consider a game completed once you've beaten the story part of the game and will at times just casually play and maybe unlock something here or there but it's really not any big deal to you.

depends on if you get bored real easy.. One game I was into completing was Castlevania: PoR. So many unlockables, different endings, secret items, secret levels, ect...

But I do have a pile of unfinished games.

yeh, there are some games I will try to get almost everything in (like super mario 64) but for other games (normally a game that gives you a grading on how well you did like trauma center for example, I won't go trying to get an XS on everything)

heh...im exactly in the middle, but i voted 'yes' depending on the size of the game, ill beat it 100% ie. i would never beat a Zelda or Metroid 100% cuz these games are so vast... but a mario game or racing game yea if the task wont take forever ( like finding all heart pieces/ missle expansions) then ill go through a game and beat it 100% yea

Yeah I like to get 100% in my games, like I played Spiderman 2 until I got every token and award, Mario until I got all 120 stars, Zelda until I get all heart pieces and you get the point.

Yes, generally speaking I am a completist.  I have gotten 100% on games such as GTA and MGS, etc.  Why?  Because they hold my interest and attention, and I am up for the challenge.  and the rewards you recieve for it is well worth it, and gives the games more replay value, even though it's already 100% completed.

A game I know I will always try to  do everything possible is Lego Star Wars and Halo.

A game like Twilight Princess is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo big that it scares me BUT I will try to do everything I can in the game because it is really fun

No. I usually play a game until I beat the story mode or I buy a new one. Most of the games I own I haven't even finished the story mode. I guess I have a short video game attention span.

Most of the time, yes. I'm working on Zelda: TP now and I probably won't play anything else until I complete it entirely... and that will take some time.

I used to be a completist. The thing is, I have so much to do these days that I can't afford it. I unlock everything I'm interested in and don't bother for meaningless percentages and things like that. I find if you go for those things, it becomes work.

I try and be a completist, but it never ends up working. About halfway through a game I'll be all for trying to do everything either on this playthrough or on another. When I beat the game though, I just sort of lose interest... and it semi-becomes a chore :?

It depends on the game. Surprisingly I didn't have the patience to find all the stars in Mario 64, however I got every single heart and upgrade for twilight princess. I've gotten 100% on all GTA games, and while i was very thorough with Resident Evil 4 I could care less about the shooting range. Basically if there is a tangible reward such as new abilities/weapons then I'll be a completist about it.

Sometimes with games getting everything is just too frusterating and hard for me so I give up lol. I can never ever see myself getting an XS rating on everything in trauma center lol. I can hardly beat some of them on normal let alone hard.

most of the time i won't complete the game 100%, there is far too many games being released at once :( if i really like the game then i will go ahead and complete it 100% ( a good example is the zelda series) if the game is just a average game then i will play it for a few hours and then won't play the game for a long time, if it's one of those games that i am curious about then i won't even stay on for 10 minutes if it's really bad lol

I am with some games, but generally I feel like if I'm trying to do everything, it feels like work, and that defeats the purpose of playing a game to take my mind off of things.

I start every game with the intent to complete everything, but if the game gets 'stupid' with its intentions, its not happening. I weigh the challenge as well as the design against the time commitment. Games like Sunshine Mario are ridiculous. They hide 120 blue coins in over 42 worlds with no indication where they might be. I mean, it would be nice if they said at least how what world has what blue coins left in it. Zelda WindWaker is another one. I never completed the picture gallery. Too much running around and it becomes busy work. Now, Baiton Kaitos has a ton of star pieces missing, and the great clue you get (at least you get a clue) is that 'flying creatures may hold these' which means I have to run around the entire world and fight flying creatures for no other reason and hope. Boy am I whining! I miss the NES/SUPER NES days where completing a game 100% wasn't countless hours of wandering around. I hate cheating on the internet to find out the secrets.

Yeah thats what I do, you haven't beaten a game until you have well and truly done all it has to offer.  There have been some exceptions however

me too but sometimes I do, just because I get too frusterated with something and frankly if I only have an hour or 2 to play games, I don't want to be running around or whatever trying to do something that should only take me 5 minutes.

The only thing I usually don't work for is when there is an unlockable opened when you beat the game in a hurry (eg. a few of the newer Metroid games).  I like to take my time and get everything.

Ir depends on the game really.

I always manage to complete wrestling games and racing games but I get bored doing the story modes/missions on games like GTA or on FPS's. Like with XIII, I got frustrated on a mission about half way through the game and lost interest in the story mode. Now every time I play that game I do multiplayer matches.
