There was another post about the Cowboys looking to trade Roy Williams but that has not happened and they have now in fact cut himLINK

OMFG!!! Quick, someone punch me in the face so I'll know this isn't a dream! I am so frackin' happy!!!

LMAO! The GOAT got cut? This is blasphemy!

First TO, now the GOAT? You guys are done for sure, yo.

Its weird how Dallas is one of those teams that gets better by releasing guys instead of signing them.  If JJ is still Mr. 2nd chance, I m sure you ll get Vick if he can come back.  That way he can make Garrett run tons of Wildcat.

Seeing as how JJ released, T.O, Tank and Pacman, I would say no chance of Vick coming here.

Why? Don't you guys in Texas want one of the most overated players in league history.  Its hard to say who would take Vick if available.  He's probably a lot worse off than TO, at least with TO you know what you ll get on the field.  I still think Goodell will give him at least a year to sit and think.  He did to pacman and he didn't even serve time.

There really isn't any need for Goodell to suspend Vick after he gets out. It's not like he's playing now. For all intents and purposes he's already serving a suspension.

Nice signing.

Yeah, but my first thought was: why so cheap, is Igor thinking Euros not Dollars? I'm curious about language in contract... $8M guranteed, so is this really a 2-yr contract? Either way, great deal (for us).

nah its about right. he is a bad passrusher but he is a very good run stopper which is the main reason i wanted him. last time i checked i think Igor is the strongest man in the NFL because they say he benches 600lbs. and in the NFL combine he set the record for bench for 44 reps. the dude is a demon and im still sad my team didnt sing him:cry:

I think theres a chance he will.  It may be more of a PR thing for the NFL.  Suspension or not, it won't matter as is, he wasn't a solid QB before and the time off will have hurt him.

All this is assuming Goodell reinstates him into the league, and a team is willing to sign him.  There is the PETA side of things, then there is the running an illegal gambling ring side of things, then there is his previous track record before these things (giving the fans the finger and marijuana issues), and then there is the parole he will have and having to get persmission to leave the state of virginia to play for an NFL team.

These things aren't impossible to overcome, but its an uphill battle.   If I was a GM, there wouldn't be a price you could pay me to put him on my team.  I like to think teams will look at what JJ did in Dalas and learn a lesson from it, but then I read the newspaper and wake up to reality and realize that money and winning are the only things that matter.

Patriots traded with the Eagles for WR Greg Lewis from the Philadelphia Eagles. The Pats apparently gave up 5th round pick for this year but gained a seventh-round pick in 2010.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80f19564&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true

They also signed former Redskins cornerback Shawn Springs.

Yeah, I guess. He's alright, though, nothing special. He contributes more to the special teams than he does to the offense.

He'll look a lot better in a Pats uniform than an eagles.  The main thing is, so mouch attention will go to Welker and Moss that in man coverage he'll end up with the strong safety or Will LB on him that he'll make some plays, much like Jabar Gaffney used to do.

I was talking about him being on the Eagles. The egals wont miss him, cuz he is garbage. Of course he is gonna look decent next to Moss and Welker with Brady throwing at him. Jabbar Gaffney did for crying outloud.

Good thing they sacked lewis. He dropped balls like nobody's buisness. I'd take a 7th round pick over him for crying out loud. BTW, lately the patriots have been ripped off in trades, First a descent Linebacker and A top 15 QB and now a good draft pick for butterfingers

per PFT:

The girlfriend of Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Geno Hayes stabbed him in the head with a pair of scissors and in the neck with a knife, Hillsborough County deputies say.

Hayes was taken to a hospital by a friend, and he was treated and released, Hillsborough County sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

Deputies arrested 19-year-old Shevelle Bagley at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Carter said.

Bagley was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

The incident began with an argument Saturday, and Bagley grabbed a pair of scissors, stabbing Hayes and causing a superficial wound to Hayes' head, Carter said. Hayes got the scissors away from Bagley.
Then Bagley "grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the neck," Carter said...

I really don't know anything about the guy but it sounds like he isn't that good. I am not sure why they traded picks for him then when they probably could have found someone on par with him in free agency.

Also you would think they would have tried to find somebody good because you can't double everybody.

Guess we will see how it works out though as is.

To clarify, it was alcohol. And I don't think he "tested positive" the first time. Cutting up cocaine in the back of a car leaves little need for a test. :P

I wonder it this is enough to finally release him?  I know the Jags need all the mediocre WR's they can get, but its hard to see Del Rio putting up with this.  Maybe they can go out and find the "next Jerry Porter."  That way they can have another overpaid less than mediocre WR sitting around not doing anything.

Still, the dude messed up again.

I wonder it this is enough to finally release him? I know the Jags need all the mediocre WR's they can get, but its hard to see Del Rio putting up with this. Maybe they can go out and find the "next Joey Porter." That way they can have another overpaid less than mediocre WR sitting around not doing anything.

What does Joey Porter have to do with anything? Or are you confusing Joey and Jerry?

He should be able to do a lot better than that. That is a crazy story. Anyway Matt Jones was arrested for testing positive for drugs again. I'll put the link in after I go back to ESPN.

To clarify, it was alcohol. And I don't think he "tested positive" the first time. Cutting up cocaine in the back of a car leaves little need for a test. :P

I fixed it, but yes, I meant the washed up WR that they signed from the Raiders last year that did what everyone except the Jaguars thought he would do, absolutley nothing.  Seriously, the Eagles WR core, look like hall of famers when compared to the collection of first round busts and overpaid free agents that the Jags have acquired over the past couple years.  Its been a long time since the glory days of Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell.

He's better than Carpenter but I don't mind since our cap is trash.

Patriots sign CB Leigh Bodden.

Details are out on Ray Lewis's new contract. Its for 7 years so he could be playing till he is 40 which seems a little crazy.
