FPS, racing games, RPG's , I always play single player first and after a while I jump into multiplayer. :) . Maybe it's because I'm old, I've seen a lot of young gamers, 18 and youngers jump directly into multiplayer as soon as they grab a game. :o Why is this ?

What are the young ones playing first ? and the old folks also ? :)

First I complete the single player. Then if the game is good enough I play the single player again or try to 100% the single player. Then I play a different game and complete the single player. Rinse and repeat.

Usually the single player (unless it is awful, like Bad Company 2's) and then the multiplayer.

I always play the single player first. I think the reason younger players jump into the multiplayer so early is because that's how popular online play has become where the little kids will act like single player doesn't exist.

Single player is usually the reason why I would buy a game. The multiplayer is an expected bonus.

I'm 16 and I still love the SIngeplayer more than the Multiplayer, yes I agree most young people (the ones in my school) are the first ones to buy Call of Duty and not even play the SIngleplayer.

I prefer single player over multiplayer. Either I'm just not a really competitive gamer or just very antisocial.

My friend, that really depends on what game and genre it is. For some games, it's all about going through the campaign. For others, I jump directly into the multiplayer and go from there,

I'm an old school gamer, 30+ years, and I used to always play single-player first but for the past little while now I've been jumping right into the multiplayer aspect of games first.

Pretty much always the single-player first, and then the multi-player. Sometimes I start the single-player and then play the multi-player while I'm beating the single-player. Still ultimately I like to get a feel for the controls and enjoy the game.

I always play single player before venturing online. Beating a campaign is more satisfying than owning people online and hearing them cry about it.

I absolutely loved the campaign of BC2. It was a 100x better than ANY Battlefield games' campaign ever, personally. But as I said, that is just my opinion :P. I always go straight in to the single player first and complete it. On occasion I may have a few games of multiplayer in between before I finish the campaign for the first time, but never a lot until I have finished it. Then afterwards I will usually attempt to 100% the campaign and get all the achievements etc. Oh and I never do co-op campaigns until I have finished the single player for reasons... and they are these: Players will more than likely want to skip all cutscenes They will usually rush through the game, not even giving you a chance to even look at the screen before advancing Players usually tend to quit at any point These points alone makes it a bad experience. Especially if it's the last point and the game is the original Gears Of War as you will know what I mean :P.

Well, considering i buy games primarily for their single player, so i would say yes to the single player first thing.

I am more of a offline type of gamer.

Depends on the game, If its an FPS I just jump into the online before everyone else gets all the better guns etc. Any other genre I buy for the SP as I hardly care about the MP.

I always complete the single player once before doing any multiplayer. This being said, I don't do much multiplayer other than the occasional FPS. I use player to familiarize myself with the controls and get a bit of practice in, as I really dislike dropping into multiplayer for the first time and getting walked on.

If the game's multiplayer is critically acclaimed, then straight into that for me. Something like Call of Duty, where you have two completely different experiences packaged into one disc, playing single player has no bearing on multiplayer, and MP is almost like a self-contained game.

If I'm invested in a game's story, like Halo for example, multiplayer can most definitely wait.

That being said, these days I'm having trouble even starting games to play the single player. I usually play co-op or something with my friends or nothing at all, unless it's an RPG.

Bad Company 1's single player was miles better than the second one: more creative missions and the voice acting was 10x more hilarious.

I always play the single player game until I'm finished before touching multiplayer, many of my friends though I've often seen will go right into the multiplayer and sometimes never get far into the single player as long as they have their games.

Single player of course! I think multiplayer should be locked whenever you buy a new game, so that you are forced to complete single player first. It annoys me much when people buy games solely for multiplayer.

Like the man at zero punctuation says, if a game cant stand on singleplayer alone, then there is no point talking about its good multiplayer.

I barely ever buy games with multiplayer to begin with. I feel it is a far-too-often focus of game development these days, and takes away a lot from the singleplayer experience.

That said, I started playing DKCR with my girlfriend in co-op, and then went to SP when she found the game too hard.

I stick with single-player, as multi has no appeal to me.

Co-op like in Borderlands would be more fun than a MMO.
