New (awesome?) PS4 commerical.

Lol that was pretty freaking awesome. I usually hate every Sony Playstation ad with a passion, but this one was excellent even though it was Live Action.

BTW, the last two games were Drive Club and Killzone, what was the first game? Looks like an melee action game set in the future (Mass Effect meets God of War?). Could this be Sony Santa Mnoica's new IP? Or they seriously marketing Warframe?

I liked their "Greatness Awaits" commercial from a few months back.

Looks like TES: Online or someone has severely ripped off the Imperial City for their game. The guy with axe's armor also looks like Nordic carved armor from skyrim.

Not bad, but they could do with showing some gameplay from these games. That goes for all game commercials.

They're doing a good job of getting people excited about the concept of the PS4, but it's a valid point that there's no gameplay.

You're here, posting on a gaming website, so you've probably seen a bunch of PS4 videos. These commercials are not for you. They probably couldn't show you anything you haven't already seen, anyway. These commercials are for people who don't visit websites, read magazines, post in gaming forums, etc. Marketing has shown these live action commercials when done well are more successful at attracting that other demographic than gameplay driven commercials. It's the Hollywood effect. Bringing it to life seems to generate more buzz in the "casual" crowd...as if seeing people instead of pixels just makes it more real to them.

In any case, this is at best a "get hyped" commercial. Probably just about every PS4 coming out next month (and possibly this year) has already been purchased, so it's not like they need this commercial to sell anything except excitement.

It's alright though I generally dislike live-action ads. They need to bring back Kevin Butler, I really miss him.

Though I would add that it also stresses the connectedness that the online portions of these games will bring, making you feel as though you're right there with your friend/s in the action.

That's a good point. It does make for a better multiplayer themed commercial than having two people in separate living rooms talking to each other via headset.

I'm loving all of the new PS4 commercials, though I'd love to see Kevin Butler make some cameos every now and again. I wonder what Microsoft has planned, since I haven't really seen anything from them...or maybe they're just so dull at this point I haven't noticed.
