(This review is for World of Tanks Open Beta) Fun but expect to loose matches a lot.
The controls are easy to get and should only take 10 mins to figure it all out. The graphics is very decent but requires a 200 series nvidia graphics card or higher to max out the settings. The sounds are very good. From the shooting to disabling enemy tank tracks sounds almost like in a real tank battlefield.
The game features basically what a tank simulator offers. Theres basic hp that indicates how close it is from being destroyed. It has modules such as tracks, gas tanks, ect. which can be damaged by enemy attacks. It also has crew members such as the gunner, driver, ect. which members can be injured from enemy attacks. All of this affects the tanks performance in battle making it interesting as gameplay changes from those affects.
There are many variety of tanks to choose from. They come from a nationality (USA, Germany, Russia for Beta), tank type( light, medium, heavy, tank destroyer, spg) and tier level which 10 being the highest most powerful tanks. Theres also upgrades for the tanks. Depending on a persons preference there are some guns that shoot faster while theres other ones that shoot slow but very damaging. This makes many tanks unique on player preference.
The game is repetitive due to the fact that many times high tier tanks and mid tier tanks are in the same match making it difficult with the possibility being blown away in 1 hit. Another annoying thing would be when players camp which can make the game get to nowhere resulting in ties after 15 minutes. Another problem is xp grind. You need a lot of xp and money to obtain and purchase higher tier tanks. Since matches give around the maximum of 1k xp and 20k cash(winning match with doing a lot of stuff) it is very small compared to obtaining a tank that requires 100k xp and 1 million cash plus equipment that players have to get before unlocking it. Only the people who play 8 hrs or more a day can achieve these high tier tanks a few months.
Though in beta, this game is pretty decent and i have gotten many fun experiences in game. They have to fix the match making and xp grind which should happen eventually if they listen to the complaints through beta forums. Though it has its problems, its fun and heck its free. They should be adding more stuff soon. Ill update if they do :)
