Issues aside, this latest edition of Twisted Metal is undoubtedly one of the series' best.

Let me start by saying that I have practically been a life-long Twisted Metal fan. The video game gods have finally answered my call and delivered unto me a brand new TM game. And its great.

If you're planning on diving into the multiplayer, the first thing you will notice will be the unfortunate connectivity issues that plague the game. This may be patched sooner or later, so don't fret. Its a blast once you join a match, and time will seem to fly as the final countdown begins before you know it. Aside from some partial twin cars, most of this edition's lineup is solid and fun. Two of the fastest cars aren't much different from each other for example. Regardless, every player will find that one special car they seem to like and play the best. Nevermind whether or not it doesn't have enough armor or speed, if you're good at the game, it will show.

As for the singleplayer, be prepared for some frustrations down the road. The game starts off solid, with cheesy yet delicious cutscenes ripped straight from old school slasher films. Afterwards, you'll be placed into the usual hectic TM combat you can expect. Good times ensue. However, some may find certain boss fights a bit too difficult at first, and others may not enjoy the races at all. Yes, there are races. If you're feeling tough enough, beat the game on the hardest difficulty for a special treat. Then you may be able to advance beyond the rank of "casual gamer", if you haven't already.
