A true classic, the best game for the SNES
Gameplay: 10. The gameplay in the game is fantastic. It's so simple: you're a little plumber who works his way through adventures all over the world: ghost houses, Star World, forests, castles, etc. It's real easy to pick up the game and play, and the adventures you go through are real fun. Levels start off real easy, and later levels will require you to use a bit more brain power. Overall, the gameplay is fantastic, and in my opinion, it's perfect.
Graphics: 10. The graphics in Super Mario World are very good on the SNES console. The backgrounds of level are well done. The objects and enemies Mario interacts with are also detailed and nicely done. I have no complaints about the graphics of the game.
Sound: 10. Old-school games in the 90's had no voice overs, so why does Super Mario World receive a score of 10 for sound? It's because of the awesome soundtrack that the game has. All the songs fit their stages absolutely perfectly, and I can still remember all those tunes from just about every stage. The music is truly awesome. You can find remakes of these songs at vgmusic.com.
Value: 8. The value section gets a score of 8 because there's not that much replay value. The first time you play through the game is an awesome experience, but once you finish it, you're done. There's no point playing it over again (unless you havn't touched in 6 years like I have). You can replay levels you've already beaten, but it's just not as fun.
Tilt: 9. I really love Super Mario World, and I think it's the best game for the SNES. It's definitely old school, and most people are only interested in the wonderful graphics of the next-gen systems. But while you're waiting for the PS3 or Rev to come out, why don't you pick up your SNES from your basement and start playing Super Mario World again. You'll relive some awesome experiences.
