Nintendo Justified!

User Rating: 9 | Super Mario Bros. 2 FDS
I remember playing this when it first came out for the Famicom. To my surprise, the super mario 2 in North America was nothing like it. I found out why shortly after, because Nintendo thought it was TOO difficult for North America gamers... Not only on this website but on other forums, there have been people who have not agreed with the notion that North Americans would have found this game too difficult. So I came here today and what do I see? People giving the game mediocre (6) ratings and saying it is insanely hard. I think that pretty much justifies Nintendo not releasing the game until now. People seemed turned off by the difficulty. Am I being harsh? Well in a part of the world where free loaders are popular, guide/cheat books are packed with the game, and some games actually allow you to change difficulty mid game.. well I think I'm not too out of line. Oops, I forgot to review the game. Well the graphics are pretty much Super Mario Bros. with a few extra touches. When it comes to the controls, there is a slight difference between Mario and Luigi with Luigi getting a jump advantage but being a bit "slippery" on the run. The main characteristic of this game is obviously the difficulty. It pretty much starts where level 8 left off on the original SMB. There were things people tried on the original like jumping over flag poles etc, but in this one you can actually do those things. There were probably players who liked hopping off the back of turtles to land on platforms to show off... but here, it is necessary. Is it hard? Yes, especially the Letter Levels beyond the regular set. Is it unfair? At times it seems so but it is a true test of skill for a Super Mario Bros veteran. Logic goes out the window in this games, they throw everything at you and it's satisfying if you can actually finish it.
