Definitely one of Mario's better outings in a while.

I'll keep this one short and sweet. Its just like every other 3D Mario game you have thus played so it can get repetitive, but with a short stage appeal. The game was definitely built with the 3DS in mind as every stage would take an upward few minutes to complete. The secrets of these stages may make you stay longer as collecting those coins from the drop in areas needing use of 3D may satisfy your explorative side. The 3D on these little detours is used in fairly good effect as without it the literal platforms are distorted much more than they look. A very nice little touch for some, but some (like myself) tend to not see 3D very well on the 3DS so it may detract a bit.

After a couple stages fashioned in a path towards the castles, you will fight Bowser who is akin to his very early outings on how he attacks, and how he is defeated. The oh so popular Bowser on a bridge is a nice classical touch to the old retro Mario.

Overall the game isn't very hard, but hits a soft spot once getting toward the end game. It does ramp up in difficulty and there are the satisfying end game stages to tide you over.

Overall not a bad experience. It does many things right, but for people expecting a new kind of platformer in the vein of of his Wii outings, it may be slightly disappointing. For any platforming junky or person that just wants a good time, its definitely the game for you!
