Destroy All Humans 2...I mean..Stubbs

User Rating: 7.3 | Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse XBOX
I'll keep this review short, just like the game.

Stubbs is actually a fun game for the first hour or so. Around that point I pretty much felt like I was playing Destroy All Humans all over again. The gameplay is beyond repetitive, and the game really does nothing to separate itself in the action genre.

You start out as Stubbs the zombie, always smoking the same cigarrette, with no explanation about your character's previous time on earth. You simply climb out of the ground and start chomping skulls. While this may sound like a dream come true, it actually wears off rather quickly into a boring affair saved only somewhat by its above average humor.

It does try some interesting things. Every time you take a bite out of someone's cranium, they will fall down dead and eventually reanimate themselves as a member of your zombie posse. You can actually create a rather large crowd of undead, which leads to some pretty chaotic action throughout the game. Unfortunately, once you've seen a few rumbles, you've seen them all. The game places you in a strange environment that didn't sit well with me. Apparently it's the 1950's mixed with space-age robots and flying vehicles. Why? I really have no idea. I personally would have preferred an era-specific feel to the game. In fact, I think this game would have been much more enthralling if it were less humor and more terror. It's hard to sustain the joy of mind-chewing countless people that don't even seem to be afraid of a zombie horde heading their way.

Graphics are sufficient, nothing incredible. Lots of blood, ripped-off limbs, and crawling torsos. The sounds are good, the soundtrack was excellent but inexplicably underused. The gameplay is well crafted, if a bit simplistic.

You'll get through the game in a very short time with very few hangups. I'd definitely suggest renting this game, because you can get the full value of it over the course of a weekend.
